Unlike Corey, I have had totally excellent service and experiences with CD-NOW. An order for two hard to find titles (Julie Miller - Blue Pony, and Mary Coughlan - Live in Galway) placed on Monday, arrived just 4-days later!. And, I received a special $10 credit because the order was over $20. In fact, I have had nothing but good experiences with this company. One time, AFTER receiving my order, I noticed that they had lowered their price on some of the items that I ordered. I pointed this out, and they immediately credited my account with a refund. It is just not in their interest to cheat anyone, or even cause anyone to be dissatisfied. On the Internet, there is just no place to hide. Besides, they realise that satisfied customers are their best advertisement. My guess is that the event Corey reported is a misunderstanding, and will be corrected as soon as CD-NOW is aware of the error. Basically, the paragraph dedicated to her discusses how her decision to let Dawson's Creek use IDWTW as its theme song has boosted the sales of This Fire. The article mentions that the show, which has become quite popular, has continued to blatantly plug the album on at least some of its episodes. In turn, that has saved viewers the hassle of having to read the fine print of the credits to see who sings the Dawson's Creek theme and has apparently prompted them to run out and buy the album. According to Rolling Stone, as of February 28th, sales of This Fire (which they report as having been out for ten months - isn't it more like 14 or 15 months?) has jumped 90 spots on the sales charts. Looks like it was a savvy business decision, after all. :^) Peace. I forgot to mention it in my first post, but the Grammy nominations were mentioned in the article as being a boost to Paula's sales, as well. However, the angle of the piece was specifically about marketing so that's probably why they attributed part of the jump in sales to the Dawson's Creek factor. Peace.
