The song might not fit the meter prefectly, and has a few extra/less syllables, but it's just the magic of slurring and stuff. -Ross(Who's hoping he'll stop lurking one of these days) - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Please note the new majordomo address To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Mar 1998 10:37:04 EST From: Momrox1 Subject: Re: (harbinger) RASORS GONE? According to Paula (as recently as her first MTV Live appearance), her next album will be out next year. She said she has several songs finished and that she's just waiting until the tour ends this fall to get back in the studio. She's proven that she can produce high quality product in a short period of time. Maybe she works best under the gun. :^) Peace. I bought it a year and a half ago at Half-Priced Books. I snagged it for a measly $1.00. I fell in love with "Stormy" and "I Won't Stay", and waited for a full-length album. So Holly came to town last fall, I went to see her - she BLEW MY MIND. And she was incredibly nice, despite playing for about 15 people in a small club. I shouted out to hear "Stormy" half way through the set (funny thing is, I *was* the front row!) and she was laughed and asked me how the hell I knew that song. We had a little dialogue before the song and she scraped together a wonderful version of it. The band jammed for a while... :) Anyway, I highly recommend "Stuff". Go see her in those small clubs before she becomes the Next Big Thing. :) - -Karen - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Please note the new majordomo address To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Mar 1998 18:59:36 PST From: "Steve Bornstein" Subject: Re: (harbinger) sheet music for harbinger Hi all I don't know when/where this thread started, but in case it wasn't noted, though there is none for "Harbinger," there IS a songbook for "This Fire." Perhaps now that interest in Paula has increased so much, WB will arrange for such a publication. Unless there are copyright complications connected to her contract with Imago? Just guessing . . . Hi Susanne Veering off the subject, but hoping to clear up some confusion . . . In case nobody responded to your question: Apparently you did not grow up on a diet of American TV, so I will explain Phil's comment. "Hogan's Heroes" was a sitcom from the 60's now in numerous reruns. Loosely based on the great movie "Stalag 17" (directed, BTW, by German immigrant Billy Wilder), it depicted various escapades and shenanigans of Allied (mostly American, some British and French) inmates in a German POW camp. They dig tunnels, they help prisoners escape (not themselves, though - they had to be back for next week's show!), they go on missions outside the camp, as they find all kinds of ways to come and go as they please. Phil notes the irony of this being dubbed in German. I'm surprised this is broadcast in Germany at all, as it shows the Germans very unfavorably. Thinking about World Beat, I realized I was looking past our northerly neighbor. There are a lot of Canadian acts that are having trouble breaking through here, and it's really us who are missing out. How about Blue Rodeo? They are an excellent folk/rock/country band from Ontario, and they are much better known in Canada than in the US. Even so, they have a devoted following here, and fans follow them from show to show, as Dead Heads did. This is partly because they have a 60's feel, kind of like New Riders, partly because they do some stretching out live, but mostly because they are such good and humble musicians and songwriters. They have incorporated mandolin into rock better than any other band I know. There is a Lilith connection - Sarah contributed vocals and piano to four songs on their excellent 1993 release, "Five Days In July" - though that's irrelevant. Also, from Quebec - Hart-Rouge, comprised of two sisters and a brother, and two other musicians. They interweave traditional songs and instruments with original compositions and a modern sensibility. Their voices blend naturally with gorgeous harmonies. They were a surprise hit at last year's Newport Folk Festival. I'll be raving about them more after I see them on Saturday.
