Remember all the stuff about how she dumped all of the original work she did on This Fire at the same time she dumped her guitarist/boyfriend? So, she did dump a portion of her original band. Also, Kevin isn't really an original band member. He and PC have just worked together a long time ago and got back together after she began the This Fire tour. Jay is definitely an original member. I've never heard about the guy the person on the Ani list was ranting about. Sounds to me like he was playing second string to begin with. Peace. It's a half hour show. Two things to remember about this show: 1) They rarely if ever show a song the whole way through, preferring to cut away for interview soundbites etc. They used to let them run, but stopped doing so a few years ago and I got so frustrated I stopped watching it. 2) I think it's usually on late as above but varies widely - ALWAYS check your local listings. Produced in 1993, it was a $5 mail order sampler you obtained via a coupon that was packaged with Imago's then-current bands (ie. Baby Animals, Aimee Mann). Harbinger had an offer for a different (newer) sampler. The number on the CD is IM 28047-2-DJ. Don't know what that means but maybe it'll help. I'll bet someone's got a boot of it. I generally don't get involved much unless there's something I have to deal with as listowner. So when people do hear from me its usually "do this" "don't do this" type posts b/c that's what a listowner does. If everything's going okay, then there's no reason to do anything as sit back and let people converse. As far as the "only talk about Paula" bs portion of your post, there are three of kinds of music lists. Ones that are basically social chat lists with some music discussion and even occasionally a post or two about the person that's the subject of the list. Then there are music lists where every post has to be about the list subject's cds and performance schedules. Then there are ones that allow music postings about other acts recognizing that the list's subscribers will have some common musical tastes and can learn a lot from posts about other musicians, and also allow posts about issues discussed in the list subject's music. This list is the third kind of list. It's not so anal that everything has to be Paula related, but it is tight enough that it isn't FTE. I have plenty of other interests. Classical music, jazz, politics, law, other pop/alternative bands, and I subscribe to lists that discuss those topics. However, large amounts of completely offtopic posts are a major pain in the ass. I offer lists as a service; so that people can get info about certain subjects and have a place to discuss those subjects. When the amounts of offtopic posts force people off the list, which I can tell you is happening from the majordomo reports I get in (weeks with lots of offtopic posts have many more unsubscribes than ontopic weeks), we have a classic tragedy of the commons. Anyone can come in the pool, and when enough people start pissing in the water others have to leave. So don't think of my posts as nasty messages--think of them as chlorine. I recognize the value of learning about other artists from lists, and so I've never had a problem with non-Paula music posts, and it's been of use to a lot of fte expatriates b/c they can still get import McLachlan news here, but this is still a music list and not a social club or corner bar. If you don't like that, that's fine. We can disagree and I'm not questioning the sincerity of your viewpoint. It's just that I set the rules, not you. ;) Jason - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Please note the new majordomo address To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 00:13:13 EST From: LeShawnte Subject: Re: (harbinger) important--please read In a message dated 98-03-19 00:08:04 EST, you write: << I recognize the value of learning about other artists from lists, and so I've never had a problem with non-Paula music posts, and it's been of use to a lot of fte expatriates b/c they can still get import McLachlan news here, but this is still a music list and not a social club or corner bar. >> ditto - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Please note the new majordomo address To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 20:34:11 -1000 From: minowa Subject: Re:Re: (harbinger) just wonderi Hi This is my favorate songs from "Habinger".
