Sender: owner-fumbling-towards-ecstasy@yoyo.cc.monash.edu.au Precedence: bulk Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Hey everyone.... Well, on this fine, sunny day here on the west coast, Sarah's spring tour is finally set to begin, with her first sold out show taking place in Spokane, Washington this evening. At this point, only 6 shows have not sold out for this particular tour: Asheville, NC (Mar.24th) Charlotte, NC (Mar.25th) Portland, ME (Apr.1st) Buffalo, NY (Apr.4th) Rochester, NY (Apr.5th) Toledo, OH (Apr.8th) Because I've had a few people asking, tickets for Sarah's Buffalo show are actually being sold through a US ticketing outlet called FANTASTIX...they are NOT being sold through Ticketmaster. The Fantastix number to call for ticket info is: (716) 888-4000. Or try 1-888-223-6000. They also have a web site where you can get more info, which is located at: http://www.topsmarkets.com/Locations/custserv/fantastix.htm Remember, any questions about ticket prices or seating info should be directed to all ticketing outlets. Remember too that where available, we will try and provide a link to where you can get further ticket info via the tour dates section of Sarah's web site. In other news, Sarah's newest video for her latest single 'Adia' premiered on various music video stations in both Canada and the US this week. You can see a Quicktime video clip of it by going to the discography section of Sarah's web site, clicking on Surfacing cover, and then clicking on the song. Either that, or simply request it be played on your local music video station. Talk to those radio stations, too! For those of you who missed Sarah's appearance on VH1's 'Storyteller's program last weekend, there's a good possibility it will be re-aired sometime in April. At this time, we don't have an exact date, but when we find out, we'll certainly post about it. Finally, we here at the Nettwerk offices in Vancouver are getting ready to move to our NEW AND IMPROVED OFFICES this weekend, starting tomorrow! YEAH! It's been a bit chaotic here this week, as you can imagine. All of us here are finding that we will have some excellent training in obstacle course runs once this is all over, what with all the boxes everywhere. Our new offices will also include the new and improved Werkshop, where if you happen to be in town, you can drop by and check out all kinds of cool Nettwerk CD's and merchandise (including Lilith Fair merch). It's located at 1648 West 2nd Ave, right next to our main offices. By the way, our phone numbers and fax numbers, etc. will remain the same, but tomorrow (Friday) we will be in a state of moving limbo, so if you happen to be calling for any reason, you may have a problem getting through until the weekend. But don't worry, we will definitely be back in action by Monday. So, this is my very last post from our old address...sniff! Ahh, the memories.... Thanks for reading and have a great weekend... - -- info@nettwerk.com ArmandS http://www.nettwerk.com \ Nettwerk Productions / {N} \ Nettwerk Productions / http://www.sarahmclachlan.com - Nettwerk's official Sarah web site with Sarah news, tour dates, fanclub info, bio and discography, a photo gallery and Quicktime videos and sound files!!! Well, you see, this is the Navy, and not only is it the navy, but it is the nuclear navy. This means that in order to change a light bulb, we must first submit a request form up the chain of command in order to get approval to change the light bulb. In my chain of command, this means it must go through the following people: 1: My Leading Petty Officer (LPO) 2. My Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO) 3. My Division Officer (DO) 4. The Electrical Assistant (EA) 5. The Chief Engineer (CHENG) 6. The Captain (CO) Once it has reached these people, and they have all approved it up through the captain, it must come back down that chain. This can take anywhere from two minutes if it is the light bulb in the captains head (bathroom) two three weeks if it belongs to the blueshirts down below (i.e. enlisted folk). OK. So now we have approval. Now we have to write a tagout sheet for the system to ensure that it is deenergized. This takes two people to write, one to write it, the other to second check it to ensure it is right. Once this is done, the tagout must be approved by a watch officer (WO). He may want to see the drawings and procedure for changing the light bulb, so be ready for it. After this, the system must be tagged out. This means going to the circuit breaker that has the light in it's system, opening the breaker, and hanging a red tag on the breaker to ensure that no one shuts the breaker before you are done changing the light bulb. A second person must then come along and sign the tag to ensure that it has been hung in the correct place and that the correct breaker was in fact opened. The tag-out sheet is then returned to the watch officer and he can tell you to change the light bulb. We are now at the point where we are allowed to change the light bulb. But wait, what have we forgotten? Well...look at what we had to do. We had to open the circuit breaker. This means that the area that this light bulb is in happens to be, well, dark. You can't see. So now we need to rig temporary lighting in the area to work in, since the navy would frown upon us simply using a flashlight. So now we go down to the topside electrical division and con them into helping us rig this lighting. That can take anywhere from two to four hours and two more bodies. OK. We can see now, and it is time to actually change the light bulb. First though, we need to rig an electrical safety area around the bulb, because even though it has been tagged out, we aren't sure it is completely deenergized, so we need to keep everyone that is not involved with the evolution away from the area. We also need rubber matting, electrical safety gloves, face shields, a multimeter, and a safety harness. We need to remove any metal from out persons so that we don't have anything on us that will conduct electricity, and wear the harness so that if we are shocked, our rope man can pull us away and have medical (who is on station, of course) revive us. We are now ready to change the light bulb. We open the light cover, use the multimeter to ensure that the outer case is not energized, then remove the light bulb and replace it with a new one. We now close the case, and we are done except for clearing the tags, clearing the debris from our roped off area, and filing a report for the chain of command that the light bulb has, in fact, been changed. Ensure that you have made copies of this report and that you have pictures of the lighted area so that you have proof that the work was in fact done. The totals: Yourself: 1 Chain of command: 6 Tagout writers: 2 Tagout hangers: 2 Topside Electricians: 2 Watch Officer: 1 Safety Man: 1 Medical Assistants: 2 Total Persons Needed: 17 Jon Akers http://tscnet.com/~jka Naval Nuclear Propulsion Electrician (but no SatNav!) - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Please note the new majordomo address To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Mar 1998 20:57:21 EST From: JSP97 Subject: (harbinger) Check this out! Here's the general annoyances Microsoft gives list owners-- 1) Microsoft's first Win95 mailer defaults to sticking in WINMAIL.DAT attachments that insert lines and lines of encoded dreck into posts, forcing upgrades to list software to screen out WINMAIL.DAT files. 2) Microsoft then goes whole-hog into the MIME multipart scheme, and again has users sending out multipart messages with various encoded sections that fill other subscriber's screens with garbage, forcing another upgrade of list software to screen out multipart messages in general. 3) Microsoft then has their little monopoly for the next generation service provider, msn, randomly switch users from being user@msn.com to user@classic.msn.com to user@email.msn.com, without any care in the world that those appear to be three different account names to list adminstration software. Listserv upgrades by recognizing all three as the same host, in such a kludge that the feature isn't even documented. Majordomo author gives up trying to keep up with MSN, says fuck it, and doesn't do an upgrade around this latest crock. Also, while listserv can attempt to strip out the multipart crap and just send the plain text, majordomo isn't as complex and just bounces the messages. So the rundown... Messages sent with WINMAIL.DAT attachments are rejected by harbinger. Messages sent in multipart format are rejected by harbinger. Most msn subscribers at some point will have their mail rejected by harbinger because their msn account as suddenly changed and the list no longer recognizes their originating address, although msn keeps processing messages sent to the old address. tina@classic.msn.com gets switched to tina@email.msn.com and suddenly all her posts are rejected because the subscriber list has no userid tina@email.msn.com in the list. Meanwhile, old Tina keeps getting messages. I think Microsoft just hates the idea of people being able to send email. What to do about the msn problem? Talk to msn. Ain't my prob.
