I didn't get this until I saw Judy's message ('or a lump of clay?'), and Bethlehem was the song that first introduced me to Paula. Editing quoted posts Hi all! I don't want to sound really nitpicky, but now that I'm on the digest instead of loose mail (and using hotmail instead of my soon-to-be-expired PSU account), I've notice that a lot of people don't edit the posts they're responding to. A lot of times, people just leave the entire post they're responding to at the bottom of their message, whether they're referring to all of it or only part of it. It only takes few more seconds to edit out what isn't relevant, and usually, unless you're responding point-by-point, a brief snippet of the original post is enough to remind the rest of us what you're talking about. At the *very least*, I implore people to at least snip the list footers of the posts they're including - I've seen some posts where the footers of two previous posts were left intact, plus the footer of the new message, and in the digest I have to scroll past all of that before I get to the next message. I know the majority of the people on harbinger get it via loose mail, and as a digester I'm in the minority, but a little bit of snipping here and there helps everyone save volume, and it especially helps digesters get through the digest much more easily. I was at a friend's place last night after work and we were watching the VHS version of Woodstock '94. This is an excellent concert video, if you're into some heavier rock music. Anyway... the last act on the video is Peter Gabriel performing "Biko." When I saw him come on, I remembered reading that Paula had performed with Peter at Woodstock '94. And, just as that dawned on me, there she was on the screen! Her contribution to that song is totally just backing vocals and her presence on the video consists of about three or four shots (from the side, with her face half-illuminated). So, I wouldn't really recommend running out and buying the video just to see Paula. It's nowhere near her contribution on the Secret World Live vid. Nevertheless, she's there. By friend ended up giving me the video because he decided he didn't really like it. So, I'm happy to add it to my Paula collection without having to shell out the dough for it. Also, when I got home, I checked my CD collection and realized that I also have the Woodstock '94 2-CD set! Peter performs "Biko" on that, too. :^) To those who have been requesting the discography, I will be adding these two items to the list soon. I'm just waiting for the next shipment of stuff to show up at my apartment before I send out another updated version. I've kept a list of all of your e-mail addresses, so I'll send you the updates to the discog as they come in. Peace. I also was at the Ann Arbor show with my best friend. We drove in from Stelle, Illinois. I was suppose to go with my husband and two year old but my husband wasn't quite up to it so it turned into an awesome weekend for Amy and I. It was the first time we have been away from both the kids and the husbands at the same time for an overnighter. Ann Arbor is a wonderful little town. The show was amazing. Willy Porter was great. I wasn't familiar with anyone besides Willy, Doc and David Grisman and of course Paula. It was a very long show!!! I would say a little over 5 hours. So I am glad that my son didn't come. I was a little disappointed to see so many people leave at the beginning of Paula coming out and through out her performance. She wasn't folk but as she put it "Music is Music" It was getting late so whatever Anyway, I don't know if it was just Amy and I but Paula seemed very edgy and very dramatic, and the songs seemed a little rushed. They seemed to have problems with the sound and lighting throughout the night which was a bit irritating. Maybe Phil or Jay or someone can explain what was possibly going on behind stage. We don't know if it is just us or if things seemed really intense. They were also the group that also opened for Paula on her recent tour. If you are anywhere near San Diego this would be an excellent venue to see Tara perform live, as it is small enough to get really close to the performers, and admission prices are very reasonable, usually well less than $10. Just get there early. By the way, the following night, Friday, February 6th, Steve Poltz (of the Rugburns and Jewel's boyfriend) will be appearing there, so it should be a great week for music here. Especially if Jewel shows up and makes a surprise appearance as she sometimes does! Thanks for your patience. It's a drag being a poor student (This school's email service in not free!!) Anyway about SNL The guest hosts are John Goodman and Dan Aykroyd and I fear that we have to again put up with a load of un-funny and dumb skits just to see our favorate artist. Lately on SNL a musical guest only performs one song on the show. It used to be two. So is it worth the time to see Paula perform only one song on the show to see the entire show because you don't know when is the musical segment. They gonna come and of course promote the Blues Brother 2000 film and perform a couple of Blues Brothers tunes. That leave us with a tiny bit of Paula. And I get to see them taped because I live on the west coast. I wish I still had an acsess to settlelite dish so I could pick up the east coast feed with unedited transmition. (with cursing and everthing) Anyway I hope I'm wrong and Paula will sing at least two songs Is it worth it? The answer is "YES!!"
