PHILLIP SULLIVAN pleaded innocent to charges of attempted rape, assault and burglary, insisting he was the victim of mistaken identity. He was later released on $10,000 bail. Sullivan was arrested on December 24th at LOGAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT in Boston, Massachusetts. He had just finished working with Cole on three concerts she performed for American troops in the Persian Gulf. Police in Kentucky issued an arrest warrant for Sullivan after a woman came to them to claim he tried to rape her on December 17th. But Sullivan's lawyers are certain the tour manager was on the road with Cole at the time and insist they have a "rock solid alibi" for him. Sullivan is scheduled to appear in court again on February 5th." ****************** I still think Phil should play the guitar on Cowboys whenever Paula plays it live! Mike Woods > Hamilton Police This is not true. I received this chain letter many months ago, and even then it was not entirely true. Now, none of what it says is applicable. The original issue under investigation by the FCC is whether ISPs were similar to long-distance companies in how they use local telephone systems, and if so, whether the ISPs should pay similar per-minute access charges as the long distance phone companies currently do. The question was never whether individuals would have to pay for ISP per-minute service on their phone bill. It was always between the ISPs and the local phone companies, but somehow it got perverted into the message that got sent around and ended up on the list. The result was that the FCC decided *not* to impose the per-minute charges on ISPs. Here is a statement from an FCC webpage: "In December 1996, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requested public comment on issues relating to the charges that Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and similar companies pay to local telephone companies. On May 7, 1997, the FCC decided to leave the existing rate structure in place. In other words, the FCC decided not to allow local telephone companies to impose per-minute access charged on ISPs. Please Note: There is no open comment period in this proceeding. If you have recently seen a message on the Internet stating that in response to a request from local telephone companies, the FCC is requesting comments to by February 1998, be aware that this information is inaccurate." Full details can be found at http://www.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Common_Carrier/Factsheets/ispfact.html. As I recall, I was supposed to receive four newsletters last year. But who's counting? Nettwerk seems to have a ready excuse for just about everything these days. The newsletter, indeed, did contain Murmurs Vol. 3 - the latest addition to the special releases available only to Murmurs members. The two-track CD features live versions of Angel and Ice Cream. The company had a problem with Paula saying "motherfucker" in "Throwing Stones." So, Paula revamped the song so that the offending lyrics were omitted. Instead of singing the "motherfucker" line, she just repeats the "liar" line. Peace. Good friends of Dar Williams (she sings backup on one of their songs, and they've sung backup for her), though the Nields are much more rock than Dar is. They started out as a folk trio some time ago before mutating, and so still play a lot of folk festivals. They tour incessantly over much of the east/midwest and occasionally out west (they're on a much-needed vacation until sometime next month I think). Their album is on EMI/Guardian (Gotta Get Over Greta). - -- Randell Jesup, Scala US R&D, Ex-Commodore-Amiga Engineer class of '94 Randell.Jesup@scala.com #include Exon food: - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com All footer, all the time...never shaved. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Jan 1998 21:49:42 -0500 (EST) From: "Jill K.
