Hey Lisa Jay- Welcome to Harbinger :-) I, too, am from the Boston area and found myself in Paula's hometown a while ago. It's very similar to where I now live; a seaside town, my own little Bethlehem. I believe the Paula show at the Hatch Shell will be free as it is such an open area, kinda like Mixfest, which I was at too. I was also at Lilith so our lives have been following similar paths :-) I don't know about the South Hadley show, but I still have my tix for Lupos in RI and that has been rescheduled for Feb. 23 and if it's a go I'll be there along with my daughter and a friend. All of these shows are ticketmaster, which locally is 617-931-2000. I don't know what is sold out, but I was told if you hold tix to the cancelled show, they can be used for the same venue on the new date. So, looks like we'll see each other around. Your flattery will get you everywhere, my friend. :^) However, I'm afraid I don't have any input on Ms. Davis. In fact, this is the first I've ever even heard her name, let alone anything about her music. Perhaps at some point in the near future, I will find her CD on a listening station someplace and will be able to formulate an opinion. You know, I'm not a big fan of Ani's so I have reservations about any artist who decides to cover one of her songs. Mind you, I don't hate Ani, but I've given her music several shots and she just doesn't do anything for me. Sorry to blaspheme, Spanish. Truthfully, I think one of my biggest blocks with regard to enjoying Ani's music is Ani herself. Something about her just rubs me the wrong way - a bit like the way Tori Amos affects me. I don't hate her really; I would just prefer to not listen to or look at her. I'll let you know about my impressions of Alana sometime soon. Peace. He was in Memphis recording it right up until he died. I guess he had recorded enough of it for his record label to release it posthumously. I hope that his record company knows what they are doing. I hope that "My Sweetheart the Drunk" is exactly what Jeff wanted it to be and not Columbia records' way of exploiting his death and making a profit because this album was so important to Jeff. He had been working on it for years, trying to make it as perfect as his vision was. I normally don't agree with releasing material gathered by artists who died because of the fact that nobody knows exactly what that person wanted. Columbia records doesn't have a godamn clue and that scares me. Fuck corporate america.
