He and his supporters say his name and identifying information must have been used by someone else.=20 Meanwhile, almost 1,000 miles away, Kentucky police are guarding the unidentified woman's residence around the clock.=20 Boone County Chief of Police Edward Ammann said he is disappointed that the judge in Boston allowed Sullivan to be released.=20 ''We are confident that we have warrants against the appropriate person who burglarized and attempted to rape this woman,'' said Ammann. ''We believe he should have been held in custody.'' Boone County Lieutenant Jack Banks said the woman said she has known Sullivan for more than eight years.=20 ''We have no question that this is the guy who was in Boone County several times in November and was recently outside of the woman's home on Dec. 17 when the woman reported that Sullivan had been harassing her,'' said Ammann.=20 Ammann said the warrants were signed on Dec. 18 for the alleged crimes.=20 According to police, the woman, who lives in Burlington, Ky., about 20 miles south of Cincinnati, has provided officers with details of Sullivan's physical description and a copy of a note written in blood that he allegedly left at her residence. The woman, Banks said, told police that she was aware of Sullivan's job with Cole.=20 According to court documents, Sullivan is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 310 pounds, and has hazel eyes and black hair.=20 Sullivan and his lawyer, Francis T. O'Brien Jr., said they are prepared to deny the two charges of assault and charges of burglary, attempted rape, harassment, and criminal trespassing.=20 ''We are contesting the allegations, and we will be able to prove that he was on the tour on the dates in question,'' said O'Brien outside the courtroom.=20 Sullivan was returning from performances in the Persian Gulf on Christmas Eve when he was arrested at Logan. He would not comment on specifics of the case, but said he was relieved to be out of jail.=20 ''I just want to thank my friends for being so supportive,'' said Sullivan, who left court with his lawyer.=20 When asked when they planned to leave Boston to address the criminal charges, O'Brien said he would be in contact with Boone County officials on Monday.=20 ''Whenever they want us to come, we will be there,'' said O'Brien.=20 Reached last night by phone at the Boone County police station, Banks said he was under the impression that Sullivan would arrive with his lawyer on Monday.=20 ''We would like to see him back in Boone County so that a judge could make a decision in this case,'' said Banks. Judge Lowy continued Sullivan's fugitive-from-justice case in East Boston to Jan. 12.=20 Yesterday, friends of Sullivan, including a teacher who has known him for years, said his character is unimpeachable.=20 ''I have trusted this man with my house, my family and kids,'' said Robert Gilpin, who teaches at Milton Academy and attended the arraignment. ''There has never been a cloud in my mind that this could be my friend involved in this situation.''
