ARGH! Please don't tell me Laura Love was on sessions this week! Her album is called "Octoroon" and it's great! Of course, she's coming back to Seattle toward the end of Januray, so I'll see her then. But I would have loved to have seen her on TV...:-( Can anyone confirm that it was Laura Love? I suppose I could see if there's a website... Lindsay, The woman on Sessions this week was Laura Love. Her latest album (on Mercury Records???) is called Octaroon. I believe she said she had a couple of indie releases on her record label, Octaroon Biography (??) Don't know if those are widely available or not. Thought her set was really impressive... She definitely gave me a new appreciation for that Kurt Cobain song. Though, for some it seems clear that we were first born, in reality, it is as hard to determine which came first, as is the chicken and the egg (of course, unless you already have you mind set.) In any case, i just wanted to let everyone know that with the death of the past--what we call--year, so will die our bad habits and evil thoughts, if we let them....if we wish them away. with the birth of the coming year, so will be born opportunities, chances at a new beginning....the facade of *re-birth* that moves many along. I just wanted to bring to your attention that with this coming death and birth, and all its glory, or perhaps pain (from which we undoubtedly grow from), it would most likely be in everyone's best interest if we make good decisions....ponder differences....open our minds.....life is all that you make it and all that you do not make it. ;) Lindsay i sound like a preacher, i suppose...it makes me feel tingly inside though..hehe. - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com All footer, all the time...never shaved. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Dec 1997 16:58:15 EST From: Oblivius1 Subject: Re: (harbinger) sessions performance? wonderful!! thank you very much..oh yes..she did talk about her own indie label..i remember now.... i've now heard two wonderful covers of "come as you are", one from Leah Andreone, and one from Laura Love (i love that name ;) and then a few not so wonderful ones..from names i won't mention happy holidays and such Lindsay - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com All footer, all the time...never shaved. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Dec 1997 16:51:09 EST From: Oblivius1 Subject: Re: (harbinger) sessions performance? it's funny...i've never heard of Laura Love...... let me see if i can help you at all.....she had her hair in braids and played bass.....her music is very very original....in one song she said "entertain octoroon..."etc etc...if this helps at all :) something about her song totally caught my ear and i was absolutely hooked..she talked about how octoroon would have been what they had called her if she were a slave on the market, because she has a light shade of skin, etc etc.... does she only have one cd..any info you can give me.. this girl was i suppose semi-folky/angst...i loved it..though different :) Lindsay - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com All footer, all the time...never shaved. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Dec 1997 17:21:06 -0800 From: Jon Akers Subject: Re: (harbinger) USS George Washington / from Phil At 03:52 PM 12/22/97 -0500, Steve Raphel wrote: >Phil Sullivan asked me to pass this along to his land-based, Harbinger friends. > >Enjoy! >-steve > >>Hi to all from the ready room 5 of HS-11 - Dragonslayers on board the >>USS George Washington.
