Poe was brillliant. Among many others, his poem, "Alone," has always been near and dear to my heart. "Alone's" sentiments are similar to those that Paula touches upon in "Saturn Girl" and, likewise, touch something within those of us (probably all of us to some extent) who feel alien to this world. Besides, rumor has it that good ol' Edgar had a penchant for absinthe. That makes almost anyone OK in my book. ;^) > well anyway, i just woke up from a dream about paula that seems to > be inspired by everyone chatting it up about how they are seeing her > on this latest concert swing.... > for some reason i was in my old hometown in this dream, which is > nowhere near pittsburgh, when i shall see her next (marv albert > impression here yyyyyyeeeeeesssssssssssss!!!!!!), but anyway, she > is walking on this country road with some girl who has apparently > won a contest, and kurt loder(????)... dont ask me.. it was a bizzare > dream... Kurt Loder? Wow! I wonder what Freud or Jung would do with that dream image? I just saw Kurt in the Village a few weeks ago. That was a pretty surreal experience in itself. I found myself truly amazed that he wasn't being pelted with rotten vegetables as he walked around. :^) > so i have this camera, and we take some silly photos... and paula > starts walking away, but as she goes she smiles... and its like > everything else vanishes but the smile... and the winter turns to > springtime... the ending was very cool.. but i dont undrstand > that kurt loder part hehhehe... Sounds like a cool dream, Spanish. Paula does the Cheshire Cat routine. Very cool, indeed. I've had two dreams involving Paula, too, but they were less esoteric than yours. In both of mine, Paula asked me to play guitar and sing backup for her during her performance. I don't even play the guitar, but I was do a damned good job of it in dreamland. > as for the fave concert part.. i was wondering which show anyone > has been to (not including paula of course!!!) that they would consider > their fave concert of all time... My favorite concert of all-time was, without question, Barbara Streisand's much ballyhooed show at Madison Square Garden back in the summer of 1994. A couple of years before that, I had worked for a law firm in midtown and, during my stint there, had befriended one of the more senior paralegals at the firm. She was given two tickets for the show as a gesture of gratitude from a movie star for whom she had been doing a lot of work in closing on his new home out in the Hamptons. Sadly, this woman didn't have a lot of friends. Sad for her, but great for me in this instance because she asked me to go with her to see Barbara. Boy, was I jazzed!! And what an amazing show!! Our seats were excellent and I had chills up my spine throughout Babs' performance. It was also the last night of her New York City run, so she was really putting everything she had into knocking our socks off. The ease and expertise with which Barbara sang and the energy of the audience (which, naturally, filled every seat of the Garden) were unlike anything I have ever experienced (or, likely, will ever experience again) in a live concert. A not-so-close (but still delightfully memorable) second to the Barbara Streisand concert was the Live concert I attended this past February up in Troy, New York. It was the second show of the small venue portion of Live's worldwide Secret Samadhi tour. The album wasn't even released until the day after this show, so the guys were really excited about that and in a great mood. They put on a show that night that I still recall fondly today. Of course, the largely pubescent, crowd-surfing audience lent to the party atmosphere, too. Notwithstanding a great many wonderful moments of seeing Paula live, Edward Kowalcyzk's live performance of "Iris" and the very cool surprise of hearing the band's cover of the Psychedelic Furs' "Love My Way" were definitely the pinnacle of my concert-going experience this year. Best performance yet this year on a single song? Hands down, that award definitely goes to Happy Rhodes for her cover of Bowie's "Space Oddity" at her Tin Angel show in Philly back in March. Oh.. which reminds me... Happy has just signed to a new label and anticipates putting out a new album next spring. And she is probably going to tour!!!! YEA!!!!!! Peace. This is so cool!! I hope she does a national tour instead of just the East coast, as she usually does. Those of us on the left coast are DYING for her to finally come out here! Now, he is a legend perhaps....those that care read all they can get of him over and over again...analyzing, finding reason, trying to understand..though nobody could possibly understand fully......then there are those who don't truly care, yet still read him for the fashionability of it these days....in any case.......i love him..... I would like to say (modestly and quietly mind you....please don't get mad...) that i was wondering if has any bootlegs of Paula Cole...now i do know that many people are dead set against this idea, then there are others who collect all they can find....in any case, i just love hearing different versions of songs..perhaps that's why i always go hear people live (last friday made the third time with Paula..yet only first time to actually meet her......).....but bootlegs are perhaps the next best thing..you get the feeling of the concert, without editing etc..... in any case, if anybody has any and is willing to trade for other artists (not really trade....copy and trade..you know what i mean) please email me privately...or if you're dead set against the idea and would like to give me a piece of you mind...also please email me privately..... i was wondering if anyone had a favourite song..i'd like to say i did.......but i couldn't possibly pick...i'm just curious as to if any of you can...... Dreams......i recently had a dream that i received a letter in the mail from Paula, perhaps because i handed her a letter when we met with my return address......it was a very sweet letter as if we'd been friends for years..only in my dreams i suppose..who knows.... before the concert i had a dream similar to someone else's already posted....that Paula asked me to sing backups...i suppose this one was because Leah Andreone did so when i met her...she got me as far as up on the stage, but i refused to sing backups...for what reason i know not...who knows where i could be now..on tour with her? i suppose i sould stop humoring myself, but anyway.......it was an honour when Paula asked me, but i yet again (well this time in a dream) turned down the offer......... enough from me Much Love Lindsay - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 1997 18:51:49 -0600 From: Sharley Hillgardner Subject: (harbinger) List gift for P.C. Ok- When the idea of a list gift was first brought up I thought we would look like crazy people! For some reason I have reconsidered and have an idea to add of my own. I love the idea of flowers and a vegan cookbook, but we should give Paula something to pamper herself with. She'll have just come off from a really long tour. What about a body massage and or facial?? I originally had thought of like a full day at a spa, but I'm sure the spas in NY are lots more expensive than here in Texas!! So I know she is really simple and not materialistic or anything, but everybody needs to pamper themselves once in awhile. A facial and/or massage are the way to go in my book!!!
