I think that Kenn, Spanish, and Terry (?) (as well as others who I'm sure I am forgetting) made wonderful valid points without being mean. Thank you Jason for keeping this list. Since I am so far away from what is happening in America, I really appreciate having this forum open to hear about Paula's touring, single releases, videos, reviews, etc. Most of the great Paula boots and rarities I found out about from people on this list. I have also received a lot of great information to help appreciate her music even more. (interviews, interpretations, etc.) As a side note, I finally heard both Cowboys and IDWTW on Finnish radio last week and This Fire finally made it to the record stores here. (I have already turned a couple of music store guys on to Paula. The people I talked to loved her on Secret World and didn't realize she had two albums of her own.) Steve Helsinki, Finland PS. I, too, am on the Spanish/Kenn fan club list. I hope they both continue to post more often. ;) - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Sep 1997 06:39:10 -0400 (EDT) From: ILML@aol.com Subject: (harbinger) Swiss Chocolate Hi all ! The European tour is winding down for us. We play here in Zurich on Tuesday and then in Madrid, Spain on Thursday. On Friday we all fly back to Boston for a few days and then we hit the road again in the USA. Touring in Europe has been a lot of fun for all of us but it is tough to get back to your hotel room everynight and turn on the TV only to find Captain Picard speaking in a foreign language. At least I have learned to say "shields up" in German, French, Dutch and Spanish. As I warned would happen, some of the fall tour dates have started to change. Nothing drastic, but nonetheless, be sure to confirm a show with the venue before you make any long journeys to a show. When an actual contract is issued and confirmed, the tour date gets added to Pollstars master list. If you are a web surfer, go to www.pollstar.com and type in Paula Cole and follow the instructions. If you live in the New England area, our tour starts with a FREE radio station concert on Sunday Oct. 12 at City Hall Plaza in Boston. It will be a great show with Sarah McLachlan, Bare Naked Ladies, Duncan Shiek, Lisa Loeb and many more. Everyone is on the guest list ! The actual "buy your tickets" tour starts in Denver on Oct 14th. Hope to see many of you at the shows. Take care, and rest assured, I am eating enough Swiss Chocolate for all of you !!! "and it's me who's to shy to ask for the thing i love"... i just love that line. it was pretty deep. so anyways that is my paula moment...any other contributions? corey Come to the official Sarah McLachlan FTE chat roomon mIRC. But first, what's an fte? Anyway, my most touching Paula moment, well there are many. This is only my first day on the list, so I can't let 'em all go at once. I'll tell you about the time Ms Cole played live at our local radio station. KBCO in Boulder. They do an amazing amount of in studio recordings and have had Paula in 2 or 3 times. Three friends called me up the time before last after she was there. Seems someone had sent flowers anonymously, and folks were wondering if it was me. I was flattered that people knew my admiration so well, but alas....I hadn't thought that quick. Another is 1st row, really good seats. She sings so well, with her mouth so wide open......Well, she's got the cutest little uvulla. (that thing that hangs down in the back of your throat. Sorry these are so silly. I told her I didn't want to bother her with that-she said it was o.k. that we were so nice and sweet to her-she said most people are right up in her face.We took a pic said our thanks and left with the greatest feeling of getting that close to such a wonderful woman. - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Sep 1997 19:47:11 -0400 (EDT) From: Momrox1@aol.com Subject: Re: (harbinger) i agree with u kenn! Corey said: << it would be cool for everyone to describe their most touching paula moment. >> Hey Corey- I have moments from a couple of years ago when I first got Paulas cd, harbinger, and I first heard the song Bethlehem and Black Boots and I could relate to them oh-so-well. You see, my sons were in high school at the time and considered the artsy musician type and they hung around with these girls who had never heard of Paula, so when I heard the cd, I could feel what I knew these girls were feeling right then and there in high school. All the angst, and mean-ness and just shit that gets tossed your way just cause your different. So I made several of these girls tapes with Paula and some Sarah and Jewel and eleanor mcevoy, and at the time nobody knew who they were, but I knew these kids could relate to the music. But I never shared She Can't Feel Anything Anymore with them, I kept this for myself to listen to and brood over. And now some of these kids are in college, some of them just living on their own and I think Paula and I helped them in some way. I hope so.... ME has been my favorite song on "This Fire" and after "Cowboys" was popular, and we were all sick of it on the radio, many of Paula's fans here in Boston got our favorite Paula stations (especially 92.5 "The River") to play ME daily for weeks. Then IDWTW came out and no more ME. Therefore, I was thrilled to hear that ME will be the next single. It is such a great song, and one so many can relate to, I am sure it will be a big hit, but of course it won't come out as a single until they feel they have gotten all they can out of IDWTW, which is still climbing the charts.
