Terry, It's really good! Obviously, it's very different from most of the other artists' albums--very rocky, synthy, etc., (they give a big Thank You to TAFKAP, so it's got some of that flavor). Lots of upbeat stuff, some really good, thought-provoking lyrics, and LOTS of humor. I must admit I was surprised at how much I enjoy it. I think of the tape, tho', my faves so far are Tara MacLean and Patty Griffith. Chantal Kreviazuk's album is also very strong. I think Sarah McLachlan's people did a good job with that freebie tape. However...did anyone else notice how Nettwerk heavy the fair was? A bit of corporate nepotism, perhaps? I don't have a problem with them becoming popular and everyone wanting to be into them. Hey, I do my best to introduce as many people as I can to new artists that I love. My only regret is that we lose the intimacy we used to have in concert venues. Someone mentined Tori. I remember her Under The Pink tour and seeing her in a smallish theater. It was nice, intimate, etc. Boys for Pele saw her in a much bigger theater, with new fans who didn't get her music or her lyrics. (One guy in the audience during Me and a Gun started screaming "Yeah, Tori!" I thought the women around him were going to skin him alive!) So...altho' we DO want our artists to get recognition and popularity (so they can keep making new albums), we DO lose something along the way. Ah, the price of fame. The only consolation is that we DO get to buy their albums for much less than everyone else...or even buy albums that are no longer available. :-) Irene - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Sep 1997 12:36:11 +0000 From: bobs@virtualone.com (Bob Smith) Subject: Re: (harbinger) Paula Tour Dates through 11/1/97 TICKETS GO ON SALE OCT 3RD FOR JACKSONVILLE SHOW. 904-355-2787-Florida Theatre tickets Are reserved seating Just some info for all you floridians Bob - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Sep 1997 14:01:55 EDT From: bgbmichaelsp@juno.com (Michael Geoorge Fulcher) Subject: Re: (harbinger) artist obscurity/Terri Hendrix:www.thelatest.com At the same time I found _Harbinger_ on cassette Abra Moore was ON SALE and Sarah McLachlan and Madeleine Peyroux were regular price on cassettte.Tish Hinojosa [The Best Of Sandia]-although she fills up 1500 seats venues easily-used to package and sign with special notes her own cassettes and one Christmas packed them up like tamales with her own artwork decorating the package. She sold them at ICE HOUSES.
