Trenchers were never washed and a lot of times worms got into the wood. After eating off wormy trenchers, they would get "trench mouth." ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 1999 08:04:06 -0500 From: "Christopher L. "He was a whistleblower for the FDA," "he was a lousy actor" and etc. It just seems to me that there is a lot of modern references in the song too. Whistle-blowers were Nazi sympathizers who were non-official regular citizens that carried a whistle (something like British "Bobbies" use to call for assistance) and "blew the whistle" on Jews et al in helping the Gestapo hunt them down. The term probably has earlier references to public citizens who did the same thing for the police chasing criminals in America or England. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Nov 1999 20:01:22 EST From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Korsetts Some of you goths may be interested in this site:-) Korsetts von dd Handel Modevertrieb ------------------------------ End of goths-digest V3 #172 ***************************
