Hi all- Happy Holidays to everyone, and I emphasize happy! This is my favorite time of the year, and I hope it is everyone else's as well. Quick comment: I normally don't like to join debates over whether material on our mailing list is unnecessary or not....but I will this time. I honestly see NO problem with non-Rasputina related mail. The volume of our list mail is NOT very large on any given day....I think ten pieces of mail for our list in one day is about average. I think if we limited ourselves to purely Rasputina items, our mail would diminish down to nothing on some days; I, for one, look forward to reading whatever another member writes, regardless of content. Recall that this is a forum for Rasputina fans to discuss the fans, but *also* to interact with other fans. I see these other non-Rasputina related items as beneficial, for we are able to interact with others who share same interests, and if we must bear with a couple one-liners here and there, well, that's just something we'll have to deal with. In the future, if we grow so much larger that irrelevent mail really poses a problem, we can form a goths-social list, which is simply a forum for Rasp. fans to discuss non-Rasp items. I don't believe we are large enough to require both lists yet. I offer a solution to those concerned with excess/irrelevant mail: join the goths DIGEST. The digest mode condenses all mail from one day into a single digest, which is mailed at the end of the day. In other words, instead of ten pieces of mail, you will have them all condensed into one digest that is mailed late in the evening or early in the morning. To subscribe, mail: "subscribe goths-digest" to majordomo@smoe.org, and to unsubscribe from the regular list, mail "unsubscribe goths" to majordomo@smoe.org. We could all also be a little more respectful when posting as well; remember that, on occasions, you do not need to respond to the whole list; sometimes a reply simply to the sender of the list mail is more effective, and it eliminates an unnecessary piece of mail in our mailboxes. Regardless, have a very happy holidays, stay safe, hope for snow in the Northeast so I can get out skiing over the vacation, and hope Melora gets us our answers soon! :) Happy Holidays, Chris ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I find it very interesting to see the kinds of bands y'all listen to. I don't recall ever hearing Switchblade Symphony before I came here, and now they're one of my favorite bands. I just wanted to say that I feel it's ok to wander off the subject of Rasputina for a while. I've joined many mailing lists and never gotten any mail because everyone thinks all they can talk about is that one specific band. It gets really boring if you don't change subjects every once in a while. That's all. (Yes, I know I started this whole Hanson crap mail) :O ~*~Lithia~*~ - --- Angelfire for your free web-based e-mail. http://www.angelfire.com ------------------------------ End of goths-digest V2 #200 ***************************
