My favorite albums of 1998: Spinanes "Arches and Aisles" Bob Mould "The Last Dog and Pony Show" Belle and Sebastian "The Boy with the Arab Strap" Barenaked Ladies "Stunt" and, of course, my absolute favorite from this year "How We Quit the Forest" Anyone else want to continue this thread? Garbage...Version 2.0 This is not my absolute favorite band in the world, but the album is utter and sheer brilliance. No matter what kind of mood I am in, I can listen to this record and feel happy. This is one of 2 albums that I can listen to any time, any where and never ever get sick of. 2. The Donnas...American Teenage Rocknroll Machine The Donas have been together for a few years now, since 1994. This is their 2nd lp, and is on lookout records. It is pure teenage rocknroll at its best, songs about boys, sex, and drugs. And not wanting to go to school. These girls are amazing, and really fun to hang around with! 3. The Toilet Boys...Living Like A Millionaire Though not on a big label yet, they will be soon. This 6 song ep is fucking AMAZING. The band is awesome, and they are my favorite band going right now. They are from New York City, and they know how to rock, like back in the old days. Their shows have explosions, fire, confetti, and pure rock. =) I was on tour with this band through eastern canada, and we had a blast. The songs on this EP are so rockin, its hard to contain yourself when you listen to it. 4. Rasputina...How we quit the forest. Well, here's a band that I know you will all be familiar with. Our beloved ladies. This album shocked me at first listen, and then dragged me in with each listen. This is the other album which I can listen to in any mood, any day, any time. When I went to see Garbage in Kitchener Ontario a few weeks ago, we listend to this CD 4 times in a row, without flinching. My favorite songs on this Album vary, dependingupon my mood. If I am looking to ROCK my favortite song to hear is TRENCHMOUTH. If I am looking for something slow and peaceful, The New Zero is the one i long to hear the most. But as a whole, the eniter album is terriffic. Sad, and buttt shaking at the same time. (LOL!!! A Rasputina song that you can shake your ass to!!!) The 2 most powerful on the album are probably herb Girls of birkenau and Things Im gonna do. 5. Smashing Pumpkins...Adore There was once a time when the smashing pumpkins were the only band that i listened to. They got me through high school. They made me laugh and cry. Like they were my best friends at times. This album was so brilliant. Brilliantly done. Brilliantly presented. I was a little sad about how little I related to some of the songs, but I realize that Billy has grown up. And now... For the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF 1998.... HOLE...CELEBRITY SKIN Ok, these asswipes (pardon my french) make us wait FOUR and a half YEARS for this record. They had help from one of the most brilliant men in all of music, Billy Corgan... It made me really upset, but the first single was wonderful, and the rest of it was terrible. The Master Plan, from Oasis should be up there with the favorites of 1998. But I haven;t bought it, because I have all the singles, so I didn't need to buy the BSides collection.
