The PLOT! The acting! >Then go back home and sink yourself into a Rasputina stupor~ Hmmm, the movie to see? I think not. While I enjoyed the acting the costumes, and a bit of the plot . . . the directing sucked. The director should have spent less time on a shitty love story and payed more attention to the intrigue and such in the Elizabethan court. He tried to, but got distracted. He also should have let the actress who played Elizabeth do her whole Elizabeth thing instead of locking her into the shitty love story. Now for a good movie . . . Look for Restoration. It's not a new release, so will be relatively cheap to rent. But everything about it is . . . glamourous. Acting is good. Directing is good. Plot is excellent. Granted, it has a sappy love story, but it shows how a man changes from a buffoon to a real human being. -Michael ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Dec 1998 00:02:15 PST From: "Kelly Bone" Subject: While we're at it If we are going to throw out movie suggestions, I have one too: "Life is Beautiful" I work for Laemmle's Theatres (its an LA thing); but we show all those smaller and independent and foreign film ("Elizabeth" is one), so I see all these movies for free, or before release (and if I'm lucky the premiere (like "American History X"!)). "Elizabeth" was pretty good, a lot of people from the Academy of Motion Pictures have told me it will probably get some good nominations, but won't really win much; but "Life is Beautiful" is doing very very very well in the theatres, still selling out, rare for a movie that been out for weeks already. It funny and sad, a work of genius. Go see it!
