I'm getting 2 free tix to the Mercury Lounge gig in NYC thru my friend Nancy, who works at Sony. I'm looking for somebody to go with me who is 21+, as the ML is a 21+ venue due to the bar, which is the first thing you see when you walk in. Here's the deal: the first person who is 21+ to email me back will go. I need proof too, as somebody under 21 might try something funny, and somebody who really IS 21+ might get screwed. Gotcha?? Good. I'll see if there are shirts too, so if anyone wants to arrange something with me so they can get a shirt, stickers, etc. Good luck, and I'll talk to ya later!! By the way the HWQTF press kit I got off of eBay is really cool...too bad you didn't bid higher. ;-P ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Sep 1998 15:57:23 EDT From: XWINSLETX@aol.com Subject: rasputina and manson? now, this is just my own speculation here... someone posted to the MM list that it is rumoured that rasputina may be touring with them... i thought about the things melora has said about how bad that tour was, but perhaps it can be true? the rasputina tour ends when? the 20th or something? the manson tour begins the 26th. so this would be good exposure for the band, since they are going to do a headlining tour in march. i am just putting some stuff together in my head, cos you know, this would be a great experience.... =) maybe its just wishful thinking, but it is rather logical! ~mel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Sep 1998 13:57:30 -0700 (PDT) From: Posby Subject: Re: rasputina and manson? I _believe_ they will be touring in the spring with Xymox. at least that is what the buzzing rumor has been... haven't seen Xymox in 6 years... and any of you who are unfamiliar with them, go out _right_ now and find their album "Medusa". it was put out by 4AD in about '86 or so, under the name Clan of Xymox. that is among the list of albums that changed/saved my life when i was in High School (many a year ago...) definately a classic. They also put out a CD recently on (correct me if i am wrong, as i don't own the CD) Tess. i keep meaning to buy it... it's apparantly mostly really good. anyone have any input on this? any of this? - -posbina (of the wretched cold) * . * * I make no friends, i've got no spark * . * * . . * . * . . Not too familiar with "Medusa" though. What turned me on to Xymox was their album "Twist Of Shadows" from 1989, when I was in college. It's a perfect mixture of moody darkness + light pop melodies. I know they also put out 3 or 4 albums since then very quietly, one being "Phoenix". That would be a great double bill!! I was wondering what happened to Xymox. Ciao...Larry PS-- Anybody on this list 21+?? I thought I'd get aton of responses to my offer for a Raspy ticket to the Mercury Lounge show. Just wondering... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Sep 1998 14:24:39 -0700 (PDT) From: Posby Subject: RE: rasputina and manson? Obviously, I *could* go, but personally I believe when you're dealing with experiences, and only one person of the two are able to go, the able-bodied person, out of kindness, should forsake the chance--especially if it isn't a life or death struggle that one must attend. >I hope she doesn't _expect_ you not to go. that would be inconsiderate >on her part. >but if it's your choice and you're happy with that, then keep doing >what you're doing. Nope, not at all. I could certainly attend the event, but I remember sleeping out in front of the Ed Sullivan Theater to see Morrissey on The David Letterman Show with a bunch of people. We all got in, and later met the band, etc. She couldn't go due to work, and I *still* haven't heard the end of it. ;) (Exeunt.) - -robert.
