I remember so Well cos it was the 4th consecutive show I had seen, and Pittsburgh was the 4th, they had day off, and Utica was the 6th. This was the 5th time I saw the band so it wasnt new to me... (I plan to write a post of all the times I saw them combined...) <> I was right in the front row and was utterly appalled by this. It was unreal, how rude people were. Pittsburgh was generally the nicest city that i saw, with the band... ERIE was the WORST behaved crowd... <> i will remember the exact quote tomorrow when im awake... melinda ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 07:18:41 EDT From: NINMANSON1@aol.com Subject: Re: Utica May 6 1997 of course! may 6th! (about the influences.) of course, when a band is influenced by another style of music, there must be some interest involved. rasputina, i'm sure, were probably influenced as a result of being involved with mm for a time, though i'm not sure rasputina are especially influenced by mm's particular style as to rock music in general. she mentioned black sabath didn't she. anyway, mm really likes rasputina doesn't he? what's this soundtrack, a new movie or something? hmm. >even the most original and creative of bands had influences...it's just >absolutely inevitable... i don't think anybody in the music industry right now >is absolutely original and free of any influences whatsoever... the only ones >i can think of who are free of influences is mozart and some other classical >masters because of their "complete child prodigy-ness" and such... i don't >know if any of you are experts in classical music but having played the piano >for 10 years, i can see a lot of classical influences in rasputinas music and >also it should be pretty obvious from the nature of the cello which is >predominantly a classical instrument... anyway, everybody draws on certain >elements from their predecessors...it's just to what degree and just because >we dont' see it and don't want to admit it, doesn't mean that it isn't >there...especially in playing a form of music that's been almost thoroughly >explored in the first place... i don't dismiss the fact that rasputina with >their cellos is quite original and something that's not often done if at all >at this point, but music is music and usually the same thing repeats >itself....just in another form that we fail to recognize...well, until next >time...peace, love, and empathy > >drew > ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of goths-digest V2 #127 ***************************
