Just my insight just a quick note Golden Years (the track being referred to) isn't on the new album... It's a cover of the David Bowie song of the same name that Manson did for the "Dead Man on Campus" Soundtrack. Don't necessarily look to it as being evident of the new Manson material, other than maybe the fact that his singing voice has improved. If you like David Bowie, you'll probably love the cover. It _is_ quite upbeat for a Manson song, and IMHO it's really good. It may also be of interest to Manson fans on this list who don't already know that Twiggy also does a track on the soundtrack (also a cover song) with the original Twiggy (the 60s model who he got his name from), which is also really good and is actually pretty upbeat as well. Sorry this isn't Rasputina-related, but unfortunately there's not much to talk about right now concerning Rasputina =) that's all Love, Jason †•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••† † m o r p h e u s @ t i r . c o m † † http://www.tir.com/~morpheus/ † †•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••† † and i will kill her children with death † † -Jesus Christ, Rev. 2:23 † †•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••† ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jul 1998 23:25:26 -0700 (PDT) From: Posby Subject: Re: non-rasp manson news On Mon, 20 Jul 1998, Ms. Kate wrote: > >release date is now september 15 and the album is to be called > "mechanical > >animals".... cool looking, although not the normal manson style... > >a friend of mine has heard a track and informed me that it's > frighteningly > >lalala happy although still genuine manson strangeness.... > > > >~k > > It is my prediction that the new manson album is going to suck terribly. > I have heard one track called golden something or other and it is happy > and poppy and terribly not mansonesque. Just my insight maybe he's tired of the monster he has created through the exploitation of the "gothic/industrial/whatever" scene in general... I'm tired of little kids (and not so little kids) running around with really bad makeup because they worship the ground MM walks on. I am _much_ happier with the recent influx of petticoats and corsets in the clubs (at least in Boston, though i haven't seen it in the olde Pacific NW). A friend made the comment that perhaps it is due to Rasputina that some of the girlies are ditching all the black in favor of lighter colors and layers of linen. who knows... personally, I've always had an affinity for that sort of thing... back to manson for a moment... does change automatically mean it's going to be terrible? but I can take him or leave him... He's like the Madonna of the angst ridden youth world.... take that as you will. - -Posbina "How wide the world is. How high. You think so? i always have to cringe a little when i hear that someone like Bowie has a cover album, or someone has done a cover of one of his songs (witness that really bad cover by Jacob Dylan). HOWEVER, I really do like the cover of the Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams", so maybe there is hope for this cover as well. > > It may also be of interest to Manson fans on this list who don't already > know that Twiggy also does a track on the soundtrack (also a cover song) > with the original Twiggy (the 60s model who he got his name from), which is > also really good and is actually pretty upbeat as well. *SCREEEEAAAAMMMM* Now I'm gonna have to own that damn CD. simply for the fact that Twiggy and Twiggy do a song together. i don't even care if it sucks. > > Sorry this isn't Rasputina-related, but unfortunately there's not much to > talk about right now concerning Rasputina =) Hey... _I'm_ enjoying it... but if this thread is deemed inappropriate, i will cease to spout off my silly opinions. - -Posbina "How wide the world is.
