That is probably enough rambling for now....... You take that back!! I would go see *anyone* if Rasputina was opening, I love them so much. Besides, in the venue they would play in here, its easy enough to duck in the bathroom and leave out the back after they're done, hehe. ~Frances ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Jun 1998 16:33:56 EDT From: NINMANSON1@aol.com Subject: Re: goths-digest V2 #57 Come on! There is an Atlanta based etheral Gothic band called Order of the Dying Knights that take influences from all over the world in their music mixed with marvelous lyrics (check them out at www.odk.com...no, I'm not in the band...I live in New Orleans.). Can dogs use them as squeaky toys? Nope! Music critics? HARDLY! Speed bumps? They decompose and the bones puncture tires :( I wonder how many of the "Manson haters" are really closet Mansonites. I mean, I saw this person in the mall the other day wearing a shirt that said "This is not a costume, I really am a Marilyn Manson Fan" I wanted to frenzy on them then and there. There was also the fact that they LAUGHED at me because I was wearing a kilt! It takes a lot more guts and is more daring to wear a kilt than to walk around wearing all black. At least I don't bitch about how society is opressing me when frat boys try to beat the shit out of me. Disgusting! Just because you wear all black and singlehandedly support the makeup industry makes you SPECIAL and all depressed 'n shit? Hardly! The original goths didn't do it because they wanted to be unique just like everyone else, they did it because, well, I'm not sure exactly why, but most of them were the children of successful parents. Why is it that the people who should be our future generations be plied with such depression and anger about how the world is so horrible? Why can't we work to make it a happy, shiny place despite the cruelty of life? Why are fantasy worlds like shadowrun, the crow, and other places where corruption and pain thrive our staples instead of worlds like Star Trek and Star Wars, where good always triumphs and good people are rarely hurt. What's wrong with showing emotion? Watching a movie and having tears stream down your face? I guess the typical Goth answer is "Fuck you, you don't and can't ever understand me." And they wonder why people don't take them seriously or trust them when everything about them is fake. That was my intro, btw. I like Rasputina. They're original. Noone else is like them that I've heard. They're talented, beautiful, and obviously smart if they made it this far with music so very far from mainstream. The only thing I don't like about them is a reason I stopped liking Tori Amos' music. Melora uses too much mixing on her voice. It's a beautiful voice, but ruined by the electronic noise. Well, enough :> I like Rasputina regardless, they're really nifty and should keep making music :> -Michael (Fear me. I remember when Rasputina opened for Bob Mould, and Bob's audience was a lot more accepting of Rasputina than it sounds like the Manson crowd was. Rasputina even got some standing applause....
