Since I started listening to Rasputina I realized how much I like cello music. A freind lent me 'Apocalyptica' which is a group of four male cello that has done all cello renditions of Metallica songs. It is very good. Does anyone know anything about when the new Rasputina album is coming out? Did anyone else go to the 'Black tape for a Blue Girl' show? I went to the Sam Goody show but unfortunetly was not able to make it to THe Bank that night. *Alycia ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Feb 1998 12:14:41 -0500 (EST) From: Laura McCutchan Subject: Black Tape at the Bank > Did anyone else go to the 'Black tape for a Blue Girl' show? I was napping during the day, so I wasn't at Sam Goody, but the Bank show was very dramatic and moody... beautiful... very different with the change in singers (Oscar and Lucian, the male and female singers from the CDs weren't on tour, in their place was Dominique...) But, since it was a club, you've always got people yapping away... it's ethereal, so it's hard to deal with in a club environment since people aren't used to ethereal, or anything without the 1-2-3-4 step beat they're used to dancing to.... Switchblade Symphony's first album, though, has a kind of Victorian flavor to it. Their sound is not actually that similar, but it's worth a try. This list needs a swift kick in the arse, rasputina content or not. I am inspired. So what are your favorite eighties songs? off the top of my head, some of mine are.... *a-ha -- the sun always shines on t.v.* oh my god..this song makes me want to bury my face in a pillow and sob for hours about every stupid mistake i've ever made relationship wise... *siouxsie and the banshees -- peek-a-boo* it just reminds me of my SO dancing with reckless abandon at this 80's night we went to...and certain silly goth types trying to look properly tragic during an obnoxiously fun song.. *prince -- little red corvette* i used to hate this song with a passion. i'm not even sure i love it now. it just reminds me of things. i'm a sucker for nostalgia. and i admit i have a soft spot for prince in my heart. *peter schilling -- major tom(coming home)* i heard this once on the radio years and years ago and got it mixed up with Flock of Seagulls. i have no idea why. recently i heard it again and rejoiced. yippee. *cyndi lauper -- time after time* when i was five i really really really wanted to be cyndi lauper. my mom was scared to let me out of the house. heh. *modern english -- melt with you* of course. mmm mmm mmmm. mmm mmmm mmm mmmm. *soft cell -- tainted love* my best friend in high school loved this song so much she made me tape it for her, which doesn't sound unusual, right? that's all that was on the tape. over and over. *the cure -- just like heaven* is it eighties or one of those borderline eighties/nineties songs? who cares. not me. thee most perfect pop song ever. do not bother arguing, i will not be swayed. *the chameleons u.k -- swamp thing* rock out, baby. i love singing this in the car when i think no one's looking. but i always shut up at a red light. always. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Feb 1998 18:23:04 -0500 (EST) From: Laura McCutchan Subject: Re: eighties baby, eighties. > *soft cell -- tainted love* > my best friend in high school loved this song so much she made me tape it for > her, which doesn't sound unusual, right? that's all that was on the tape. over > and over. yes, but have you heard Coil's cover of Tainted Love? It's on the Scatology CD and it was done for an AIDS benefit thing... creepy and ironic....
