From the posts that I've been reading, I've not seen one person on this list that doesn't like Rasputina. (hmmm...are you getting different list mail than I?) So someone asked a question that you already knew the answer to...well, rather than flipping out like you did above...maybe you could have just simply answered the question. Not everyone has access to the all the info all the time. (part of the reason this list was created...to share info) Is there a problem if a person found out about Rasputina through Marilyn Manson? I don't see why there should be. Who honestly cares if you were listening to Raspi in your infancy or if you just heard of them last year? A fan is just that A FAN! Regardless of when they started listening to them. My favorite 97 releases Kindred Spirits - (A Bedazzled Comp) is definitely one of the best CDs I've bought... has Switchblade Symphony, Mistle Thrush, Opium Den, Siddal, to name a few on it... Soul Whirling Somewhere - Pyewackit (from Projekt)... very sad and sweet. Bjork's new album - Homogenic.... and that's all that's coming to mind this morning, but I've bought so much in the past few months.... and it's all pretty damn good! I remember them unsigned, playing with no cover in a dive bar in the East Village and how fucking beautiful it was... and that was four or five years ago.... So nah nah nah!!!!! I just wanted to introduce myself to the list and stuff. I'm a 20/m who goes to the University of Houston. I've lived in Houston for about 3 years now but have lived in L.A. most of my life. *NOTE* (Don't ever move to Houston, it sux ;) :) ) I found out about Rasputina through a friend who lives in Norway. Weird huh? heh... One day she wrote to me saying something about Rasputina and I was like...uh..what? Who are they? She told me they were really cool and I should get their EP. I then went out and got "Transylvanian Regurtitations" and a week later I got "Thanks for the Ether" They both are really cool! My favorite songs on there is a tie between "Transylvanian Concubine" and "Brand New Key" I must say that CEllOS are pretty damn cool heh :) Rasputina's music is pretty cool and it like mellows me out. Really relaxing to listen to at times. I listen to every type of music. Well here's some of my favorites besides Rasputina. Jewel!! (MY favorite), NIN (second favorite), Marilyn Manson, Sarah Mclachlan, Tara Maclean, KoRn, Tool, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Liz Phair, Atari Teenage Riot, Prodigy, POE, Garbage, Lush and many others. Well I'll get going now. I have finals to study for :/ Damn it! heh. Have a nice day and take care. :) Rasputina Fan in Houston who needs a haircut cuz he has like an afro right now. ;) Tien "Without you...Everything falls apart Without you...It's not as much fun to pick up the pieces"-NIN ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Dec 1997 11:47:51 -0500 (EST) From: Laura McCutchan Subject: Re: I'm new here :) > must say that CEllOS are pretty damn cool heh :) Rasputina's music is > pretty cool and it like mellows me out. I have to agree with you on that one. Im not a fan of Manson, not that it is a problem if anybody is...I just think that he riding on the whole shock value thing a lttle much. I do like his videos though. Rasputina are beautiful and melodic and I cant help but cringe when I think of all the little masonites who never knew anything about goth/punk whatever who can now go to the local mall and buy purple hair dye and spiked collars. I remember when you would have to go way out of the way in some little hole in the wall store to get anything "punk", but that was also when Doc Martens were only worn by skinheads. Anyway, back to RASPUTINA...when are they going to tour again????? I saw them open for the Cranes in a tiny little club and it was lovely. No huge commercial club (can anyone say..the new 9:30 club in DC?) that sold tickets for $25.00 each. And before anyone goes off the deep end about how Im knocking people who got introduced to goth/punk through Manson, hey...if you are like 13 or 14 years old that is fine...but please find out the history before Manson, start in the 1970's! But if anyone here ever made fun of any "freaks" or the punk rock kids in highschool while they wore their Guess jeans and other labels...then you're a joke! Move on to the next fad! Of course, Vince MacMahon...being the dog fart he is..took the belts away from them because they smashed a few cellos over his head and starting beating him with fiddles.
