They lived in the 18th and 19th century. I listen to Rasputina quite a lot when I'm writing so that's bound to have some sort of effect :). Not sure yet. The first chapter of the book is on the web, if you're interested. It's a bit of a Victorian tale. The only line in which I'd compare Cranes to Rasputina is the mood of some of the songs, listen to older Cranes stuff and you'll see what I mean. Since their tour with them Rasputina became known with quite a big group of people over here. That's why it's such a shame that they did not play with the Cranes in Europe, they would have been huge over here if they had done that :). And I would have met them, but no such luck :). I know i've already posted a couple times, but here's a formal intro: I'm friends with Chris (the owner of the list), and he Co-owns another list with me that is totally unrelated to this one. I'm from Webster NY, the motto being "Where Life Is Worth Living" to which i say.... um, not even close. Its really a crappy suburban hell, right Chris? So i spend a lot of time up in the Adirondacks cause its much better up there and the people are much more interesting. I dont play cello or anything, but i like Rasputina anyway. First time i saw them was w/ Chris here last year, opening for Bob Mould around this time, actually. I thought they were great, though most of the audience didnt seem to, and hunted down "Thanks For The Ether" and posted something on their web-page (i was like only the 8th person, no joke). Lets see, musically i worship CMJ and my other fave bands/musicians include Sonic Youth, Pavement, Superchunk (basically Merge's entire catalog which means also Spent, Lambchop, Portastatic, East River Pipe), The Wedding Present, Yo La Tengo, Ani, Some o' that crazy techno muzik (Underworld, Chemical Bros, DJ Shadow, and such) Um, lets see what else: Stereolab, Radiohead, Spinanes, Cat Power, Blonde Redhead, Velvet Underground, REM, and whatever suits my fancy at the moment. Thats me in a very condensed nutshell, not to say that theres really a whole lot more, but i'd like to think so. later, _Nate_ (knayte@aol.com) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 08 Sep 1997 17:28:33 PDT From: "Liu XiaN" Subject: Man, woman, human - - not, or more than ThaT/half-baked attempt @ introduction :K Query: [what sex you are] Slightly political, since -- these past few weeks, as it seems; almost everybody I cross paths with has the distinctly inconvenient (?) if I happen to be *gay* or not.
