Subject: Tee shirts and an introduction Hello everyone, guess it's my turn to make myself known...:) I'm 23 and live in The Netherlands but spend a lot of time in England. I'm a painter, translator and I'm working on a book. I think I might have a go at designing a t-shirt (is there a deadline??) :), and play the piano and some sort od Chinese dulcimer called a Yang Ch'in. I just came to know Rasputina this year, through the Cranes. Unfortunately they didn't support Cranes on their European tour so I had to put up with a crap support act lots of times. Any other people from Europe on this list? I've searched around the official site, and there is no given method for contacting the band. I don't even know if anyone checks their bulliten board or guestbook! Melora does the artwork on the page, and is writing up her 'saga' (check it out if you don't know what I'm talking about - the Melora section of the official site), so there's got to be someone monitoring the pages. I have tried posting on the official site, but no replies have been forthcoming. So I checked Sony Music's own site. To contact bands, they recommend e-mailing the band's record label. In Rasp's case, it is Columbia Records. Columbia has an e-mail address, and I have sent them numerous e-mails in the past asking for interviews, permission to use photos, permission to make shirts, and acknowledgement in general. I'd like the band to recognize the work fans are doing on their behalf, and I would also like to know what we can do to help them! I've been trying to steer 'The Goths' down the path Poe's fan club, 'The Angry Psychos' have been going. They post posters for concerts, wear uniform shirts, send Poe music to radio stations, etc. Sorry I'm off subject, but here's Columbia's e-mail address. Maybe other people can get somewhere when I couldn't: columbia.records@www.music.sony.com . I haven't gotten any 'unknown user' responses when I mail Columbia, so I'm sure they're getting through. I have a friend who can get me the phone number for Columbia, and he's pretty sure he can get someone important to talk with me (he's got a couple connections in the music business, I love it), so I might try that path soon..... And for whomever asked if Rasp. is on the radio, I haven't heard them! I don't frequent the radio, but my friend heard the Manson remix. (I think we've got to change that....more RASP!!!!) Later, Chris ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Sep 1997 11:12:40 PDT From: "Lu Xian" Subject: allo Sabine! >painter, translator and I'm working on a book >designing a t-shirt (is there a deadline??) :), and play the piano and some >sort of Chinese dulcimer called a Yang Ch'in. Damisela Sabine, Hapong maganda! Tell us more about the book! Not to seem overly-fanatic, but will it have shades of the Three within it? Who's influenced you in writing? How *big* are the Three in good ole UK? Are the [Cranes] similar stylistically to Rasputina? Please, tell us more:) Sooner, Xian ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Sep 1997 11:18:09 PDT From: "Lu Xian" Subject: dat adorable li'l (icon) Micah, As to your query concerning the cellophone -- I am at a standstill: permit me a few hours, I shall look this up for you; and hopefully by 3pm we've got something we can work on:) But, why? I do suppose it is a serious curiousity that has taken hold of you -- for you've asked me of this -- and I will come through. Hmm, [cellophone], frankly m'dear, quite fascinating. Wonder if it sounds anything like a [voicebox]. I didnt like the remix, and i dont like manson. I dont want to get in an argument cause i know there are fans on the list, but in my opinion there is nothing all that "shocking" about the ol' reverend at all.... he's a mainstream marketing ploy that is, not surprisingly, going over quite well. Nothing very new or innovative, in my opinion, just shock value. Sorry if that offends fans. Basically my point is that, if not for manson, i probably wouldn't have heard the track on the radio waves. Unfortunate but true. I do give 'BER credit though: their weekly 2 hour indie show keeps my faith alive. _Nate_ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Sep 1997 12:21:38 PDT From: "Liu XiaN" Subject: piggyback rides + such :N Lucky, bloody you folks at Rochester! Nothing of the sort happens like that around here! How's the remix, though? I've come across (and must admit ) that MManson + SnPimps on the SPAWN st was pretty...good. Cheers you up on that sort of overcast, gloom-riddled day:). Did they turn up the cellos (which imho was what really *made* the track for what it is!), or put in more of the usual undecipheracle rant/MM savoire-faire? Share yer insight with us, please:) And um, being the idiot -- I still am not sure if it's TrConc that was the track remixed -- is it the one? Hmm, yes -- here's to a wish that they didn't butcher the pretty song... Well, I'll respond to everyone because I thought this was kinda common knowledge. But since there's a question, I'll clear up the issue for everyone. Rasputina released an EP, 'Transylvanian Regurgitation' back on August 12th. If you weren't aware, you haven't visited our web site enough!!!! Anyways, it IS an EP, and really is rather unimpressive. Here's the track listing: TRANSYLVANIAN CONCUBINE (Radio Edit)* (2:54) TRANSYLVANIAN CONCUBINE (Club Mix)* (3:57) HOWARD HUGHES (3:13) RUSTY THE SKATEMAKER (3:35) TRANSYLVANIAN CONCUBINE (2:46) BRAND NEW KEY (2:12) * Remixed by M. Manson and Sean Beavan Since Rasputina toured with manson, he decided to remix Transylvanian Concubine. The four Rasputia-played songs on the EP are directly from 'Thanks for the Ether'. Hence the 'Regurgitation' title on the EP...... Buy it anyhoo, since it IS Rasputina and since we're such loyal fans we must support them!!!! Chris, reiterating again to keep posts relevant and to combine messages whenever possible! Hello. As you might've guessed, I am a Rasputina fan. I love them. I saw them at Erie, PA May 3, 1997. They were great. They were pretty much disrespected the whole tour....but i loved them.
