Pumpkins+Ani DiFranco+M. Manson+Indigo Girls+Kristin Hersh+Cibo Matto+The Cure+NIN+Lamb+Golden Palominos+Butter08 i know i'm forgetting some, but i think that's sufficient for now.... i have not been able to see rasputina in concert, unfortunately. i was supposed to see them with manson on mothers' day, but my mom wasn't too thrilled with that plan, understandably so. i discovered rasputina through a microscopic article about them in some odd magazine. i bought the cd, put it on, and i was absolutely enthralled. i felt as if the cd was made for me...i adore the cello, and i am also attracted to anything out of the norm. needless to say, thanks for the ether became an automatic favorite for me. i wd absolutely /\/\/\/ kill \/\/\/\ for some more rasputina merchandise and for any yummy info about them. for those of you who don't already know, rasputina is on the cover of the latest SCRAWL magazine. it's a brilliantly delicious article with dazzling pics, so if you can, do get yr grubby little hands on a copy. as for the question about a rasputina video, i saw the edition of MTV news where they reported on the release of Transylvanian Regurgitations, and they showed a clip of a lovely looking video (presumably for transylvanian concubines). unfortunately, i have not seen or heard about the video since. well, that's it for now. *have a wonderful day, or evening as the case may be. actually, be disgraceful, have both!* ***********Pam ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Sep 1997 14:20:40 PDT From: "Lu Xian" Subject: Drac! Cory, Waaaaait! Graeme's not a GUY! Also -- check out de soundtrack to The Craft (Fairuza Balk+3 others), the awesome [music score]/(not soundtrack!) to The Crow (Brandon Lee) and a bit to play in the soundtrack of the same movie (the last 2 songs or such). There's that one female performer whose name I cannot distinctly recall -- but she has inculcated a lot of Sumerian influences (as opposed to the more common Celtic or Gaelic): and the title of the track is [Temple]. Can't even figure out how she looks like...hmm. As to the haunting strains of the music score (again -- not soundtrack:) of Bram Stoker's (FFCoppola's rendering of) Dracula: some pretty good stuff's in there too; reminiscent, or probably inspirational of [transylvanian concubine]. Now, dat's a good one:) Xian - -----------------------------^------------------------------ in Death your final misery/shall you be Exalted your ending (Heaven Forfend)/be celebrated as Loneliness is unforgiving; and Neglect is unforgivable. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Sep 1997 14:39:20 PDT From: "Lu Xian" Subject: Re: *your ever enchanting missive* Pam, A li'l help for the hopelessly inept: is SCRAWL sold in *normal*, corner-of-the-street news/magstand? If not -- where else do I find a copy? As they are not yet fully enmired within the *Alternative/Mainstream* (ironic as that tag may seem), material on or about them is the task du jour -- please keep the rest of us informed if any of youz out there find AnYthing! Anything at all! Manson: Marilyn Manson?! Nooo way! In a bid for some primo space -- their agent (or someone) billed them with Mssrs.Manson (and the rest of his outre coterie) -- but in the least? They are so distant: stylistically, etc... Whereas the Three are of a distinct Romance, and the harsh truth of its double-edged luck -- those of the tribe of Manson are unmitigated boors -- with nothing new to offer. Pax, No offense meant to the Legion which happen to be Manson *fans*. Goths- I haven't really introduced myself well, so here it goes. I'm 16, birthday in April (April 29th, that makes me a Taurus), about 5 foot 11, blue eyes, blond hair, enjoy long hikes in the woods....... Anyways.....I play the cello, have been since I was like 8 or something. So I guess I'm pretty good and I have transcribed some Rasputina stuff, but it'll take me a while to turn them into graphics to post on the site. I'm busy with lots of stuff right now, so gimme a break or two! I am a Boy Scout, and don't anyone laugh unless you really understand everything about boy scouts. I won't try to explain, everyone's already got a biased opinion of Boy Scouts anyhoo - I'm an Eagle, btw. I run indoor and outdoor track, and prefer running the 800 meter and mile. Not exceptionally wonderful in either event, but good enough to make the varsity team. If I'm home (and I try not to be, considering that there's two other younger siblings here), there's a CD playing. Bands of interest include: **Bob Mould**, **Vic Chesnutt**, Grant Hart, Kristen Hersh, Patti Smith, John Cale, Lou Reed,** Velvet Underground**,** Radiohead**, My Bloody Valentine, Wilco, Son Volt, Built to Spill, **Sonic Youth**, Verbow, **September 67**, **Rasputina**, Sleater-Kinney, Yo La Tengo, and many other indie bands. I make web pages for money, have made some prototype pages for some big name companies, have run two school pages, a church page, and the Rasputina site. That's about it for me, but I've got something else important: There isn't much Rasputina music out there (the debut and then the regurgitation), and Rasputina does have a unique sound, can't deny that. Well, there are some bands out there that sound a little like Rasputina, and I'm sure there are people out there interested in listening to some. I'd like to suggest "Lucky Shoe" by *September 67* as a similar sounding album. Nothing can match the sound, but september 67 has the same catchy tunes, same attitude, and is composed of Kristen Asbury and Shannon Worshell (sp? sorry...). The album is pretty easy to find, so someone out there might like to give it a chance. Anyone else recommend anything that sounds remotely like Rasputina? That's about it....and thanks again! You probably won't hear a lot out of me, but I thought I'd make my presence known anyway. :) Well, my name is Katie, I'm 14 and I play cello; the bestest instrument with 4 strings on it :) If anyone cares to know anything more, feel free to ask, because I'm not really sure of what else to include. -katie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Sep 1997 23:44:20 EDT From: foxmulder@juno.com (Chris L Smith) Subject: IRC channel Hi again- There is a Rasputina IRC channel, and it has been online for quite a while. #Rasputina, on dal.net. I usually am present from 10:00 til 12:00 or so on non-school nights, or from 8:30-9:30 on school nights. I've only seen one other person in the room before; maybe others with IRC software could visit too! Thanks to goonies@genesio.net for establishing the IRC channel!!
