Hmmm...sounds like the beginnings of a thread to me... Some of my faves...Jenny, Tara MacLean, Sarah McLachlan, Ron Sexsmith, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, The Smithereens, Abbey Travis, Beth Waters, The Motels, Julia Fordham, Peter Gabriel, Tori Amos, Patty Griffin, Lori Carson, Jonatha Brooke, and SARA LOVELL!!!!!!!!! Those are the majority of the singer/songwriters I like... Other categories... BLUES...Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, BB King, Ronnie Earl, Etta James, Sue Foley, Tommy Castro Band, and misc. others. JAZZ...Miles Davis(esp. KIND OF BLUE...), Wes Montgomery, Coltrane, Errol Garner, Nina Simone(the only singer who can make me cry), Kenny Burrell. Classical...mostly Romantic composers...Rachmaninoff(esp. solo piano, my fave is Vocalise, Op. 34/No. 14)...on guitar, my fave piece is "Capricho Aribe" by Tarrega(I think...). Misc....Gypsy Kings rock!!! I like some country, esp. Vince Gill, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shania Twain(don't hate me, please...). Tito and Tarantula...kind of a Spanish/Latin/blues/rock mix...they had the song "House That Love Built" on the DESPERADO soundtrack. > ------------------------------ > > Date: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 19:06:00 -0400 > From: Tracy > Subject: When do you listen to Jenny? > > Laurie's post made me think about the times I like to listen to Jenny's > music the most. OK...now to make this post REALLY long... (sorry) I listen to her music when I'm in the mood for it...reflective, brooding...sometimes at work...a lot of the time I spend driving...sometimes when I need a lift. That's it...I'll go away now. Take care. Richard ------------------------------ End of goodgirl-digest V1 #5 ****************************
