I was returning from Florida and actually was scheming about how could I get up to Boston and find Stephanie's wonderful house again in time when I didn't even get home until 5:45 PM and live at least 2 hrs away in CT! Common sense ruled, and I used a little self control. I first heard of Jenny at the LRC at Stephanie's house in May, was it? Altho I didn't know her music, I loved it right off and became a convert that night. I am scheming about maybe taking the train into New York some time to catch her there. Hopefully this list will keep me informed of any opportunities like that. Waiting for another CD, Cheers, Dana ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Aug 1998 03:04:31 -0400 (EDT) From: kartalst@HUGSE1.HARVARD.EDU Subject: Hello My Children! Hello Jenny-fans... It is the lovely hour of 3 AM, and i can not sleep...i have a huge glass of seltzer water by my side, and I am just so HAPPY that my main e-mail address is up-and-running again... it's been quite a b**ch this evening to have the system being "refreshed" as I call it...made my email unaccessable to me for numerous hours *stephanie begins to whine* so I am pretty excited that all of you are tuned in to Jenny's *amazing* and soulful music. One thing that interests me greatly is finding out how each one of you got turned on to Jenny's music? Some stories are familiar--that someone either heard her at one of my living room concerts or I sent someone the CD--but I am sure that plenty of stories are quite different. Let me offer my "Jenny story" to all you lovely people! April of 1997 I was subscribed to the Jewel list and was spending far too much time on email--responding to almost all of the "far too many posts" on the list that I found mucho interesting right away. There was a "list newbie" named Jordan from somewhere down south...missouri perhaps? farther down south perhaps? ANyway he had joined the list asking if there were any Jewel fans out there who were also Lisa Loeb fans. I responded int he affirmative, and we did a "bootleg exchange" of sorts...I exchanged him my Melissa Ethridge boot (having it around brought up bad memories, though it was a great boot...) for a Lisa Loeb boot he had. The LL music only took up one side of the tape, so on the other side, Jordan had put music for this singer he "played bass for when (he) was living in NYC...her name is Jenny Bruce...I think you will like her." To this day I have only listened to the Lisa Loeb side ONCE. I have been stuck on Jenny Bruce since the weekday in the end of April that the bootleg arrived to my college dorm room! A bit early on in June'97 I searched for more info on this Jenny Bruce chyck only to find her webpage on the WWW...and her email address...and from then on in, she and I have been in contact, exchanging info on her music and my potery, life in general, and all the other stuff that begins a friendship! And she has come to be one of the friends who knows me so well...and who I trust with *complete* faith and confidence...someone who I care abou dearly and who has become rather "near and dear" to my heart! OK, OK, so what's your story? =)) love, stephanie * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Stephanie Maria Kartalopoulos * The Greek Poet Chyck kartalst@hugse1.harvard.edu This is my prayer for you: May the moon protect you with honesty, caring, and gentility. May the sun guide you with assertive perseverence. May the stars embrace you, bringing smiles to your faces and songs to your souls. And I hear your voice through the darkness-it's music to my ears. -J.Bruce ------------------------------ End of goodgirl-digest V1 #2 ****************************
