Did anybody see John and Lucy play together over this past weekend at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley? It was an outstanding concert. Lucy has never sounded better and John was equally amazing. At one point they also brought up Antje Duvekot, who was also just terrific. Lucy said that there were only around 4 perfect moments in her life including her wedding, seeing her daughter for the first time and singing with John. She sang a song with John and said that she thought she just had another one. On one song she reported goose bumps. They both seemed to be so happy and were obviously enjoying themselves. I know that is exactly the way I felt. I attended the concert with 3 newbies - all young and completely unexposed to this genre. They loved it! John has a new album, but most of the songs that were song that night were Lucy and John standards. Antje sang one of her songs and also sang some harmony with them. Check her out. She is very good. John sang a new song, "Ignorance and Privilege." I suspect that we will be hearing this one at concerts for a very long time. Here is a youtube link for those of you that have not heard it. Of course this is just my speculation, but it seems to be a song so fluent and honest that it must have just poured out of him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV3tf-bssXs The new Freight and Salvage is an awesome venue. The sound was terrific. The seating was comfortable and beautifully planned. Of course I only sat in one seat, but it looked like there was not a bad seat in the house. We sat in the first row of the balcony and had an absolutely clear view of the entire stage. I can't remember ever having such excellent seating at a concert of any type. I did not keep a set list. If anybody out there did, please post it. I just wish all of you could have been there this weekend! Gina ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V11 #4 *******************************
