Yes or No? Dear Good Noisers, where ever you are. Susan and I are working on updating the gorka fan site. We got to talking and decided that if there was going to be a Gorka presence on the web, at least ONE of them ought to be current! Have any of you checked out John's site? Nothing new there! So, Susan asked me if this listserv was still an active link? Do people still post here and should we continue to include it on the web site. What do all of you think? How many are left on this list? Please, take a minute and respond if you can. We are just wondering if it is still a place folks are interested in sharing their musical journeys. Anyone heard the new CD yet? Just checking in from the midwest. Namaste music friends. Susan, I kinda like the list as I rarely go to John's site since no one seems to be updating it. And, since we certainly aren't slowing down the web with our traffic, it seems a better way to actually get news out in a timely manner to those who want to receive it. I have to admit that I haven't been keeping up with much music lately anyway, due to health issues of my own, and my input tends to be limited to playing devil's advocate and the occasional rant. Or to let folks know I've popped another tune onto my site. For those who have asked for chords for songs, I appreciate your patience. After 2 years, my chemo seems to be bothering my hands less, so I am actually starting to pick up my guitar again. Plugged in? My son makes recycled rhythm Recycled rhythm means making music with found objects like water bottles, yogurt containers, pots, pans or paint buckets. He began making music like this after he heard and met musician Billy Jonas. He is great! Billy showed him he could make music using recycled instruments made from items found laying around on the ground or the recycle bin. He does workshops. What is a Recycled Rhythm Workshop? Ian will be at Gingkos to perform a recycled rhythm concert for a group of children/families. He uses his recycled instruments and talks about recycling. Then the kids/parents get to make their own recyled instrument and at the end, get up on stage and be in the band with Ian. If you know any kids/families, please let them know about it! Thanks to all of you for letting me share the good noise here. Ian has taken to calling me his 'Momager" these days. Robbie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jul 2006 20:28:31 EDT From: ThePsyche@aol.com Subject: Keeping the link Well Gorkaheads, How cool is this? In just 48 hours, this list has generated 34 posts. I didn't even think there were more than a handful of folks on the list so just seeing/hearing from all of you is good medicine. To clear up something I mentioned in another post, we, at one time, were in contact with the list host, a guy named Chris Thorpe. (or was it a woman?) Anyway, it has been a very long time, years, since haviland@erols.com has responded to any emails. Chris started this list at smoe.org This is not our list, Susan and I just added it to our fan site long ago in hopes of keeping it going and finding other Gorka fans. So, for 3 years it has been basically quiet here. To have 34 posts in 48 hours is a lot. And what you have all said is keep it going. We can't do that, that is up to the list owner, but we can keep a link for it at our fan site. I guess this is my last post. I mean, unless someone comes up with a topic, an interesting thread to get us all talking, yelling, laughing or crying. It has been wonderful to find you all here...again.
