I had read about the ad but hadn't seen any of it until now. I doubt Dylan needs the money so I wonder if, in his sixties, he is trying to give the impression that he is still virile (whether or not he still is). I heard the music first, that is what made me look up at the television. I found the lyrics and copied them here for all to read. How old is Dylan? And how old is that woman he is supposedly eyeing in her bra and panties? If a Gorka song was going to be used for a Victoria's Secret Commercial, which would you pick? Thanks for trying to wake this list up Gina! Namaste, Bryn, the music junkie Love Sick by Bob Dylan I'm walking, Through streets that are dead Walking, Walking with you in my head My feet are so tired My brain is so wired And the clouds are weeping Did I, Hear someone tell a lie Did I, Hear someone's distant cry I spoke like a child You destroyed me with a smile While I was sleeping I'm sick of love That I'm in the thick of it This kind of love I'm so sick of it I see, I see lovers in the meadow I see, I see silhouettes in the window I watch them 'til they're gone And they leave me hangin' on To a shadow I'm sick of love I hear the clock tick This kind of love I'm lovesick Sometimes The silence can be like thunder Sometimes I wanna take to the road of plunder Could you ever be true? I think of you and I wonder I'm sick of love I wish I'd never met you I'm sick of love I'm tryin' to forget you Just don't know what to do I'd give anything to be with you ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Apr 2004 06:59:39 -0700 From: "Gina" Subject: Re: OT - An interesting noise According to some posts on other lists the following came up: In 1965 Dylan was asked if he would ever do a commercial. His response, which I assume was a joke at the time was, "women's undergarments.'' Apparently, he read that quote and figured if he just did that, he wouldn't look like a sellout. Well, he does look pretty good. If they can make him look that good, I wonder what those models look like in real life? He is probably in his early 60's by now. The "A Nod to Bob" album came out around 3 years ago, I suppose. That was in celebration of his 60th. Virile? He's been know to be a real heartbreaker, at least in his youth. Virile? These days virility can be found in a pill. Can't wait to see if they can find a folk icon for that! Even funnier would be a rock icon. You all do know that they used a Christine Lavin song in an underwear commercial don't you? They used "What Was I Thinking" while pairs of wild, novelty undies were being panned on a clothes line. It was very cute. Gina - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, April 07, 2004 7:21 AM Subject: Re: OT - An interesting noise > I had seen this Gina, on TV late the other night.
