I missed the favorite Gorka song question, Bryn, but I'd love to comment. I'm of the "old and negative" ilk, so I too love "Raven in the Storm" - the entire "Land of the Bottom Line" album is my absolute favorite, including "Love is Our Cross to Bear" (which makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck) and "Stranger with Your Hair". And although I appreciated all his music, I most recently found myself completely enamored with "The Company You Keep", especially "Over There" and "Let Them In". As you all know, seeing John live greatly influences your perception of his music. Seeing him perform "Semper Fi" live in Bethlehem, PA a few years ago was the most amazing moment of my concert-going history, and has thus cemented that song's spot in my long list of favorites; and his live version of Pete Seeger's "Water is Wide" on piano can move me to tears. Who doesn't love a rousing version of "The Body Parts Medley" as well? I missed John's recent concert here in Pennsylvania - did anyone attend the Touchstone Theatre benefit in Bethlehem, and care to report on it? There was a pre-event reception I'd love to hear more about. Sorry, I can't boil it down to one but here are my favs at present: On "Land of the Bottom Line", which I disliked when I first heard it but is now my favorite JG album: "Raven In The Storm" (makes me shiver); "Stranger In My Driver's Seat" (paints such a vivid picture); "The Sentinel" (compassionate without being sicky sweet); "I Saw A Stranger With Your Hair" (takes my breath away every time I hear it). On "The Company You Keep": "Oh, Abraham" (now you know which political party I don't support); "Let Them In" (a fav since I heard David Wilcox sing it); "People My Age" (if you can't laugh at yourself as you get older you're going to be miserable -- at 59+ years I should know). The song "Old Future's Gone" helped me realize that I was not only mourning those killed 9/11 but also mourning the future I had expected for my children and grandchildren. Now I don't consider it a fav but do appreciate what it did for me so that I could move on. Also, "Armed With A Broken Heart".
