For you folkies out on the west coast: Untitled Document Consider becoming involved with this new chapter of the International Folk Alliance. There are other regional chapters of the International FA. Here is link to that site: Folk Alliance It is NOT only for performers or venue types or booking agencies. It is for us too, the fan. And becoming a member increases the support of independent folk musicians around the country and the world. I just returned from 4 days in Nashville at the International Folk Alliance Conference and it was four days of community...music and more music! I met people just like me, there for the music and I met others, very involved and commited to the community of folk music. New music found - check these folks out - Brian Joseph at brianjosephmusic.com Jim Photoglo at jimphotoglo.com Freebo at freebo.com Suzanne Buirgy at suzannebuirgy.com Many more, there are some for a start, what's in your CD player this winter as we wait for a new Gorka CD? Did everyone get their new Mustards Retreat CD? If anyone is interested I posted some photos from the show (and from the one the night before in Cincinnati) at http://pictures.care2.com/view/1/469360588 Woody Tribute Tour There are two pages, and if you click on the small photo you'll see a better, larger one with a caption. What is in my CD player right now? A few things in rotation....Bill Miller's "Hear Our Prayer" and "Spirit Rain", Carrie Newcomer's "A Gathering of Spirits", Lyle Lovett's "Step Inside This House". I would love to go one day, but I'm sure I would just get over stimulated. Did you see my buddies Roz and Howard Larmon from FolkScene? Was Christine Lavin there? Cliff? I have seen Brian Joseph and Freebo. They are okay - not going to make it to the Gorka level ever though. Brian's just a baby. Freebo has been around the block a few times. I saw Brian open for Cliff. I was a little bit underwhelmed with his songwriting, but he really is still young. Are you still going to do a house concert with Darryl Purpose? I've actually been successful in getting people around the country to go see him and they love him. Steve and Karen Murphy have been playing him over and over again. I hope you get a chance to have him over because I know you'll enjoy him. How are you holding up with the world events? I have been in such a funk. But, I got my period and it's not quite as bad. At least I'm not crying all the time. I just can't believe the state of the world and feel like I have so little control - because we do have such little control. Stay warm and dry.
