It clearly looks like a kindness by John to a child....ah, well. Last year I got John to sign the promo CD I had. He autographed it and then drew a self portrait. After he finished and handed it back to me I kiddingly told him, "Wow, this will bring a pretty penny on ebay!" Not so funny now. I guess the idea of paying for an autograph is beyond my comprehension. Yesterday, while out at the mall I walked past a Sports Shop with a sign out front that said this some big Chicago Bears Football Player was going to be coming in for an autograph session. It read: Selling tickets NOW, $35 our item, $45 your item. Curious, I asked the woman at the counter. She said if I came and bought an item to have signed from them, it would only cost me $35. If I brought my own item to be signed, it would be $45. She also told me that I better get a ticket fast because they were going quickly and he would only be there for an hour on Saturday. (I checked, thinking maybe this was a charity event, nope, the money goes to the celebrity and some to the store) I was disgusted. Then, this morning, I find this item at ebay....just makes me wonder about people and the American Way.... Visit the ebay auction site if for no other reason that to read the bio the guy put up. I wonder where it came from. Anyone recognize it? It's sad that a thank you note would be auctioned, especially to the sort of audience that us JG folks are. I do not think that there will be big bucks made on this. We also don't know the story behind how this note got onto Ebay. It could make the whole thing even more obnoxious. In general, it is amazing to me what people want to spend their money on. Gina, who doesn't think that the self portrait looks very much like John ;o) - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, December 07, 2002 8:39 AM Subject: Gorka at ebay > I was checking out ebay and found this Gorka item: > > eBay item 927853779 (Ends Dec-16-02 08:00:00 PST ) - JOHN GORKA AUTOGRAPH > AND SELF PORTRAIT > > It just doesn't sit well with me that someone would be selling something like > this.
