I had a pretty cool music moment this past weekend that I thought I would share...thanks for indulging me. I invited friends over on Saturday for an evening of beading. We all bring beads to share and have personal projects to work on (all novices) but the real reason to get together is to hang out and talk and just "be." The pool table was covered with our creative energies and I had Alice's new CD playing on the stereo. Most of my friends know her music but had not heard the new CD. As we listened we began to talk about her music and record deal and all the fame that seems to be just around the corner for her. About that time, my husband returned with our son and after polite hellos, they disappeared upstairs, not interested in getting in touch with their inner bead. A few minutes later Ian came down the stairs saying, "Mom, Dad says go turn on CNN, Alice Peacock is going to play a song!" We all went down to the family room, popped the TV on just as this guy was introducing Alice. HOW COOL! We were just talking about her and there she was. If you don't know her music, check her out at her web site. (www.alicepeacock.com) Her latest album has a band and a lot more production that I am used to but I like it...a lot. Final note. My son thinks Alice is the prettiest woman he has ever met and he likes her new CD more than the old one. While we watched her on TV he commented that she looks different, like a star. Out of the mouths of babes. On a Gorka Note: Anyone seen John lately? I might be taking a road trip to MN in December to see him. That is about the closest he seems to be coming to Chicago for a while. I would love some concert updates. Heard a story about him at the MN Folk Festival in September and his being heckled by a guy in the front, guess it totally threw him off for about 15 minutes before he regained his performance balance...and a fine balance it is. Was anyone on this list there and see that incident? Hecklers...it was probably just Edgar with a few too many in his gut. Hope all turns well in your worlds. Woo Hoo! I think I will keep it a secret from him and just let the envelope show up in the mailbox one day. He says he likes getting mail from his grandpa and his Aunt Pat because they always send $2 bills. I think a pic of Alice might rate up there with that! Thanks Hugh. Ian Iyengar 576 Sheridan Rd.
