There is a Stan Rogers concert being featured on FolkScene this week. You can hear it on KPIG over the Internet. In case you don't know, Stan Rogers is the Canadian Singer/Songwriter that John's song "That's How Legends Are Made" is about. It's on "The Land of the Bottom Line" album. Stan was an enormously talented man who died a very untimely death only a few days after this concert. It was at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Los Angeles in 1983. The concert is fabulous. This is such an extraordinary event. I hope you all will take a listen. You will not be sorry. I don't know what day of the week they change the shows. But, it's played 24/7 for hopefully the next few days. It's in the middle of the show and you will hear all sorts of other folk music before and after the concert. The music after the concert is really pretty stuff. If you want to know more about Stan, go to www.stanrogers.net. John covers one of his songs, my most favorite, called "Lock Keeper." The version on this concert is simply beyond words. Of course you have to have a "player" to listen. Go to: www.kpig.com scroll down to the end of the page and click on FolkScene. On the second page, pick "Channel 1 - latest show." It's actually show 177. Here is the set list: PROGRAM 177 Theme: Living In The Country (tune by Pete Seeger..performed by Martin Simpson & Friends) Intro: The special features on this program, both from the FolkScene Archives" is Stan Rogers & his band in concert at McCabe's Guitar Shop, Santa Monica, CA on May 28, 1983.
