Backing himself on an astonishing array of instruments -- six and twelve string guitars, steel guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, percussion, flute, recorder, mandolin, banjo, didgeridoo, and harmonica -- Don entices audiences on a journey through songs about lovers, outcasts, healing, crime, and redemption. An avid supporter of Woody Guthrie's legacy, Don set out across America at the age of seventeen, traveling by whatever means available. He trekked to every one of the forty-eight contiguous states before expanding his journeys to include Hawaii, Jamaica, South America, and Japan. While living in Vermont - -- scooping ice cream at a homemade shop in Burlington run by two guys named Ben and Jerry -- he formed his first band. In the Guthrie tradition, Don tours incessantly, returning to his Colorado desert home only a few weeks out of the year. His journeys provide an amazing array of narratives and personal reflections.
