I am a new member of the mailing list. Somehow John Gorka had evaded my radar for all of these years, until a good friend turned me onto him a few months ago. My main reason for joining the mailing list was to find out when, or if, he comes to the New York City/New Jersey area. If he does, does anyone have any information about upcoming shows? Hi Don, Welcome to the list and to the wonderful world of Gorka :-) His tour schedule can be found at: http://www.flemtam.com/jg-itin.html It looks like he has a couple of dates in the tri-state area in the next few months, including one on Staten Island at the CSI Center and another one at the Clearwater Festival in June. Phone numbers are listed on the site for the various venues he will be performing at, so you can get more specific information there. If you haven't been to the Clearwater Festival (aka Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival) I'd highly recommend it, if only for the exposure to a wide variety of wonderful music. However, IMO, John is at his best in small intimate settings--the best shows I've seen (Gorka or otherwise) have been a couple of house concerts he did in the town I used to live in. Unfortunately, with as many venues as there are in the NY area, you're not as likely to find him doing house concerts around here.
