In yesterday's mail I received your latest compilation, "Extremely Rare Collected Good Noise" and I believe that this is your best effort yet! It's really very cool to hear "brand new" songs from the past and/or John Gorka's live introductions to ones that I've heard before. I enjoyed the many interviews, too. They are very enlightening. For instance, I never knew that dream street was written after John had observed both heavyweight fighters Larry Holmes and Muhammed Ali and that Holmes lived near John back in the old days. There is probably no other way which I could have ever heard these songs and/or John's many comments and observations without your assistance, and I truly appreciate your hard work and long hours spent assembling this true work of art. Incidentally, the artwork, photographs and lettering, etc., were all quite professionally done, as usual. John Gorka and David Tamulevich should be most impressed with this one. I know that I am! This past August, after attending the David Wilcox "Underneath Weekend" at Paula/Bryn's place near Chicago (where I saw John, twice in one weekend, up close and personal, in January), a friend of mine and I rode our motorcycles on out to the Sturgis, South Dakota annual (world's largest) motorcycle rally and saw many sights there. One of the most impressive was the ever-developing "Crazy Horse" monument about which John sings in the first song of the same title on this CD. As you know, that's a really good one, and I can't wait to share it with my riding partner. We visited that monument one day and spent much time there, so John's song about it - and the famous Indian after which it has been modeled - will be particularly important and significant to both of us. Thanks again, my fine foreign friend! Steve McGraw ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V5 #26 *******************************
