For those of you unfamiliar with house concerts, my husband and I open up our 
home as a venue for a night.  We move the furniture around, set up folding 
chairs and everybody brings food to share and we have a concert.  Usually 
between 30 and 40 people, a very intimate musical experience.

If you are interested in finding out of there is a house concert venue in 
your area, try houseconcerts.com which lists them by state.

If you like acoustic singer/songwriter type folk, you would enjoy the house 
concert experience which is as much about a community of like-minded souls as 
it is about the music.
