Sticking my head out of lurkdom for a few minutes to offer up this little tidbit of info: Lucy Kaplansky's new CD is finally out. I think she and Dave may have done backup vocals together on one of John Gorka's CDs back in the early '90's. Anyway, she has suffered the misfortune of having her CD released on 09/11/2001. Needless to say, with the events of that day, not much has been said about her new CD. I received mine in the mail that day as well. Didn't get around to listening for a few days. In the spirit of trying to get back to somewhat of a normal life, I finally slipped it into my CD shuffle. I know some of you on the list have mentioned that you are fans of her music. I must say this new CD is very good indeed. I highly recommend it. John Gorka appears on several tracks and Jennifer Kimball (formerly of The Story) also appears. Very nice work all around. The new CD is called "Every Single Day," and it's really worth a listen. Lucy has fast become one of my favorites along side Dave, Shawn Colvin, Gorka, and James Taylor. Anyway, just wanted to share that with everyone. Also, I think it's just about time I sat down and started a new "Random Acts of Music" CD. Maybe now it is even more important than ever to get out there and commit those random acts of kindness toward one another. Take care everyone. Although I usually just lurk, your words over the past weeks have given me comfort and inspiration, and brought me to tears and laughter. I am thankful to belong to this little community. And by the way, I'm more than willing to do my part to weed out the terrorists. In support of our patriotic sisters who have been loyally running into the street naked every evening at 7:00, I will be joining you in the cause. It is the very least I can do. Just promise you won't make fun of my mole. (uh-hum, or anything else!) It is a wonderfull CD with two tracks with John as a backing vocal singer. The song "song for Molly" is a must for Gorkaholics because of the 2 voices. But all 11 tracks are good. She belong to the great musical family I love. She was a girlfriend of Shawn Colvin in the eighties and she was in also a member of Cry cry cry (with John's old musical friend Richard Shindell). Ofcourse she is also the most important woman on John Gorka his CD's. So please buy this CD !! By the way that guy Terry Lee mentioned a lot of CD's I realy love (Every Single Day - Lucy Kaplansky, underneath - David Wilcox, Whole New You - Shawn Colvin, The Company You Keep - John Gorka) Regards Jos - ----- Oorspronkelijk bericht ----- Van: Aan: Verzonden: maandag 1 oktober 2001 19:32 Onderwerp: New Lucy Kaplansky CD > I thought I would share this post from the David Wilcox email list...it had > minimal Wilcox content and a great deal of Gorka content. > > Anyone else heard this new CD? > > Adios, Bryn > > Date: Sat, 29 Sep 2001 09:58:30 -0400 > Author: ">Terry Lee Hawkins > Subject: Lucy Kaplansky's New CD > Body: Hi Gang!! > Sticking my head out of lurkdom for a few minutes to offer up > this little tidbit of info: Lucy Kaplansky's new CD is finally out.
