It means a lot to have a dose of caring from across the water. We were sent home from work early around noon today-all 'nonessential' state employees. My poor boss kept saying "But I'm essential...aren't I? I thought I was essential". The inmates were running around the cellblocks cheering. My stomach was already twisting, but this made me feel even sicker. Seemed like they got a charge out of the death and suffering of others. Even though I KNOW this about them, I still get nauseated when they display it openly. But, please focus on the fact that during this HORRIBLE time, we will also see the best that people can be. There are way more people who will show compassion, bravery and generosity than the misfits of the cellblock. The reality of the world is always there - good and evil. While it is important not to forget about the evil, it is very important to keep the good in the forefront of our reality. And I would also like to thank Jos and our other overseas friends for their well wishes. I, as one proud American, appreciate your sentiments. Eventually, we will recover from this, too. Thanks again, my friend! Steve > I wish you all good luck in New York and America.
