If you have not heard them, you are really truly missing one of the great things in life. Their new cd Drum Hat Buddha is out now and available at the Signature Sounds website. www.signature-sounds.com It's brilliant!! I cant stop listening to it. here's a bit of a few articles about them: Dave Carter is a master songwriter, poet and dreamer. Whether his songs are narrative or stream of consciousness, they connect even before they are fully understood. He draws images from pop culture and various American subcultures, from truckers to Buddhists, and Native Americans to cowboy singers. Tracy Grammer is an intuitive singer, instrumentalist and Yang to Carter's Yin. Her interpretive skills and musicianship are fully half of what they are as a duo. They inspire each other musically and personally. They are gracious and enthusiastic in live performance and don't seem to have a clue as to how good they are. When you see them at a festival they seem almost giddy to be playing in the company of their contemporaries (and they in turn liken Carter and Grammer to what it must have been like to be around a young Bob Dylan). and They have that something special that took Lyle Lovett, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings immediately out of the pack and put them on the train to somewhere..... The material is superior, in lyric and melody. Dave's a really fine player to boot. I like his guitar work, and he plays some melodious banjo on a few tracks. He's a good singer, and he picked a great one for a partner. Tracy Grammer's voice has that special purity and strength that lends soft authority to the mythical themes of the album. Her fiddle playing is different, very ensemble-wise and lyrical, hangs in tight with the guitar in a way that really works. and their own website is www.daveandtracy.com. i also highly recommend Deb Talan. jess - -- Jessica Byers 23373 Highway 93 North ~~~ http://www.geocities.com/amari913 Arlee, MT 59821 ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Jun 2001 12:32:59 EDT From: Togg4@gateway.net Subject: OT - Don Conescenti Hey Good-Noise People: Thanks for your encouragement for the Don Con show. It was last evening at a place called Genghis Cohen which is a unique little place that is a combination Chinese restaurant, bar and music room. Don was great. Dan Navarro, of Lowen and Navarro, was there and joined him for several songs. There was also a sax player, who's name I forget, who joined him for a few. I enjoyed Don's unique style and voice. He also seems like an exceptionally nice guy. He is extremely fond of Bryn and family, but aren't we all?
