For some reason, McCabe's hasn't started advertising this yet! It is not on the mailer or the website. I don't want Cliff to not be asked back because of a poor showing. So, I'm trying to help by posting here. If you don't know Cliff's work, he is terrific. He is an extremely talented guitar player and songwriter. His voice is passionate and soulful and he is a most engaging performer all the way around. I would imagine that many Gorka fans would like Cliff and in fact, they sometimes play together and have credits on each other's albums... Feel free to contact me if you want more info. You'll be moved to tears as he sings Memphis. Another folk singer that has grown on me in the last couple of month's is Slaid Cleves. I'd classify his style as Texas Folk. I'm not big on country music or Texas but his songs are infectious and you'll find yourself singing along. If you're looking to build a good collection, you might want to see if your local library has any of the cds in stock. You can listen to them and decide. I'm not trying to be disingenuous. It's just that with John's music, it depends on your mood. If you're going for mellow and introspective, his earlier work is more appealing to me. For better instrumentation, his later work is better. If you have internet access, you could go to www.amazon.com and listen to some samples of the music. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000059LET/qid=991336677/sr=1-1/ref= sc_m_1/104-0382254-6795144) I find that I've built my John Gorka collection over the years. It was a bit pricey but they wear well over the years. My Cliff collection is a bit skimpier. Most of those I taped from one or two cds. John and Cheryl are on it, but Lucy and Cliff are not. There is also an album called "When October Goes." This one has Cliff, John and Cheryl but not Lucy. I am unaware of any Christine albums that represent other seasons. I am a bit confused why they posted the show with John, Cliff, Cheryl and Lucy as "A Winter's Night." Maybe that is the name of the "band" - sort of like "Cry, Cry, Cry." Anyone out there know?
