I enjoyed everything I heard, and wrote the name of the CD down in my ever-present 'music' notebook (crammed with CD titles, song titles, new artists to check out, and set lists from concerts attended). Then a couple of weeks ago I actually had the Bleecker Street CD in my hand at the local folky music store...but had already picked out a couple of 'must-have' CD's and so put that one back for the time being. Gina, thanks for reminding me of that disk - I'm gonna have to pick it up now for sure. OK, here is another wonderful album that some of you may have missed - "From the Heart of Studio A" It is a compilation album of archived, live performances from a legendary folk music show that used to air in Los Angeles. I love this album! I suspect that anyone who enjoys contemporary folk music will feel the same way. John sings one of my favorite love songs of all time - "Lock-Keeper" by Stan Rogers. This brings me to another subject that I have been meaning to bring up to the list. Again, this is a just in case you missed it sort of thing. You all know who Stan Rogers is, right? John credits Stan as an important influence on his music. The song, "That's How Legends Are Made" from "Land of the Bottom Line" is about Stan. Stan died in the early 1980s. He was an amazing, unique talent. It's mind boggling to think of where his music might be today, had he lived. If you enjoy John's rich baritone voice, Stan's voice will knock your socks off. You can check out the "From the Heart of Studio A" album at: www.folkscene.com While at that site, you will also see that you can listen to FolkScene online, 24/7 at: www.kpig.com The Stan Rogers site is getting to be a pretty fancy deal: http://stevebriggs.superb.net/stanrogers/ If you take the time to let the spiffy flash intro download, you will hear Stan sing a bit of one of his more famous nautical songs. *smiles* Gina ------------------------------ End of good-noise-digest V4 #100 ********************************
