Jonatha Brooke just released a new cd called Steady Pull. She was one half of the group The Story a few years back, and has started her own label. I caught a free performance she gave last night at a Borders. Her songs are introspective and thoughtful, and her voice is really expressive. If you're feeling like you need some more new music, give it a try. Great choice Matt. I heard her name a few times on some other music lists I am on and then I saw she ws going to be appearing at my local Borders. I am continually amazed at the wonderful artists out there performing for free. She blew everyone in the store away, people came from all over and crowded the coffee bar. She's no John Gorka....but then who is? Jonatha Brooke formed in the late eighties a band with Jennifer Kimball called 'the Story'. They made two great records and then they split. As the Story they also did backing vocals for serveral artists like David Wilcox and Ellis Paul. Jennifer Kimball made 3 years ago a nice album called 'Veering the Wave' and she is singing backing vocals on 'Let them in' which appeared on the new John Gorka CD The Company You Keep . Jennifer, you will remember is a frequent of John's performances and part of Story, with Jonatha Brooke. Isn't it strangely beautiful how through the interconnection of these musicians, we connect? I take full responsibility for the evident overload and temporary shut-down of good-noise. Our review was too much for the system to handle! We sent it off at 230 PM and still haven't gotten it back... Hi Susan and Bryn! Love the updated Gypsylife! Wow! Hey Steve! How are ya, funny guy! Hi Suzie Tee! Thanks for de-lurking and thanks for the compliment! (Be careful with the compliments, though. I recently had to buy a new hat because of Susan and Bryn.) Hi Barbara! I love your enthusiasm about the new JG album. It's pretty much all there at Gypsylife, but if you have any other questions, direct email me! Hey Jos! I love the CD I got from you way back when! I listened to it twice today to keep myself from oversaturation of 'Company You Keep.' Thanks again! Ready? One, two, three.... Bryn said: With this CD.....hmmm, how can I put it? I guess, the best way to say it is, the boy became a man. Sam says: Now, Bryn... you know that no one else has the CD yet! Sheesh! How will anyone truly understand what you mean by that statement? When I first saw it I thought, "Well! There's a bold statement!" And then I discovered where you got it... With the best of intentions, I have to say that the man was a man when he did 'Between Five and Seven.' So there, feisty one! I couldn't resist this...
