You are going to be tested. My spouse, Tim, a major Gorkaholic in his own right (very hard to do when you live with a certified Gorka web mistress), will be in your area sometime in the next 7 days and he vows to stop by and check your home to make sure you have the appropriate Gorka shrine visible somewhere. He will try to convince you that "Blues Palace" is the definitive Gorka song, for him at least. Be prepared to debate. Don't forget to make extra copies of those keys! :-) Gorkafest at Sam's house everyone! Hey, that's not a bad idea....Bryn?????? Let's plan one this summer.... Your most appreciative new best friend, Susan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Feb 2001 20:32:04 EST From: ImSerius2@aol.com Subject: House Keys Hello, De-lurking briefly to say how much I've enjoyed the activity on this list for the past year. I'm not as well-versed of a Gorka fan as all of you, but I'm learning - and reading the insights and commentary on this list helps a lot. Bryn, you know I love you...and Susan, you guys are doing a great job on the website. And Sam - you are a quite simply a delight. I want a key to your house! I am looking forward to (only) my second Gorka show, at the Ark in Ann Arbor, on March 8. Will any other list members be there? Sam and Sara (of house key fame) were at the Des Moines show on Friday night and graciously purchased a CD for myself and Susan. IT has arrived!!! The artwork is excellent, the songs are the best I have heard from John since Between Five and Seven. But I am going to save talking too much about the new music until more of you have it so we can talk in detail. I like it a lot. Check the web site out for lyric and song information. Susan is hard at work getting it all up and going...she is a wonder!!! Namaste friends, Bryn, music junkie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Feb 2001 21:00:26 EST From: Smithfinn@aol.com Subject: Lurking and stumbling Hi Suzie! I stumbled across this list when I was trying to convince some friends to go see John with us about 18 months ago. They had never heard of him and I did a quick web search, trying to find some sound clips (as my thief of a husband had taken all our Gorka CD's to his office). I found the list, signed up and lurked for a while. Bryn dragged me out of the darkness and has become one of the best friends I will ever have. I know there are those on this list who would rather talk more seriously about the music and don't like the fluffy stuff, and I respect them immensely, being totally untalented in that area! The fluff is just fun. But the community of Gorka fans is growing and the friendships I have made on this list are some of the best I have ever made. Bryn, David, Jos, Mike, Gail, Steve, Sam, and everyone else whose names I am omitting. These people are kind and generous, supportive and gracious. This is a great group of people all drawn together by the simple love of this man's music. You are all great. Those who don't want a 'preview' can skip the post. My CD is pre-ordered from CD Now and is supposed to be in 3/13/01. That's only 21 days away! WIth permission we have all the CD art work and soon the lyrics too. With this CD.....hmmm, how can I put it? I guess, the best way to say it is, the boy became a man. It is bedtime but I am working as fast as I can type! Whch is horribly slow.....those who want the thrill of the surprise just don't to go visit our web site until March 31. I have been told by someone on the list that he loves the thrill of opening a new CD and reading lyrics for the first time as he listens to them and I can appreciate that.
