I am forwarding a note that David Tamulevich received from Gary Gackstatter, director of the symphony, regarding John's performance on Monday with the symphony in Winfield, Kansas. That was a performance I really tried hard to find a way to get to but I just couldn't make it happen. Anyone from the Good Noise list there? If so, please share the experience with us. I would love a set list. Keep warm wherever you are, Bryn, music junkie Forwarded message: David- I just wanted to report back to you what a joy it has been to have John perform with the symphony. He was a real pro, handling it like he's done it all his life. The concert went extremely well, two standing ovations. The audience here was completely knocked out in a way I've never seen before. But it goes further than that. John's songs are timeless and people sense that, even hearing him for the first time. He's far more than just an entertainer; he's an entire generation's poet. Thanks for helping make this happen. gg ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Feb 2001 21:31:32 EST From: ThePsyche@aol.com Subject: Gorka in Kansas Tuesday, February 13, 2001 Winfield Courier, Winfield, Kansas. Folk musician John Gorka sings a love song titled "I Saw a Stranger With Your Hair" during his symphonic debut with the Winfield Regional Symphony Monday night. Gorka, who has been a singer/songwriter for 20 years and recorded seven albums, performed both with the symphony and alone. Among his other songs were "Let Them In," "Looks Like an Angel" and tunes about New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other places he has lived. Jane Sandbulte/Courier Wow, talka bout taking a career and shrinking it down to one paragraph. I prefer the words of the symphony director. There sure is a difference in good writing.
