Among the shows I saw during that time were two of interest to this list -- Lucy Kaplansky in Concord, Mass., Oct. 14, and JG with Lucy opening Nov. 4 at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va. Both were excellent, well-attended concerts. Since getting back on-line and on-list, I noticed that Anne Nugent's Geocities Gorka site has been taken off the Web. Is there a new home for the content on that site? I had filed concert reviews going back for some five years there. - -- Jay Votel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 Dec 2000 11:22:41 -0500 From: Greg Steele Subject: Re: Seeing John Jay Votel wrote: > > Since getting back on-line and on-list, I noticed that Anne Nugent's > Geocities Gorka site has been taken off the Web. Great to see you back, Jay! Greg ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2000 15:52:37 EST From: ThePsyche@aol.com Subject: She gets it!! Dear Friends, Have you ever played Gorka for a friend or family member and then, as they sit their listening you get so excited to be sharing your passion for this music and the words that are Gorka...and as the song finishes, as the last poignant note hits your ears, you look expectantly at the person you are attempting to annoint and they say, "that was interesting" or " that's nice" or worse yet, "you like this guy?" But then, every once in a while, you risk again and someone gets it. I just got this in my mailbox from a long time friend. I had just wrote to her about the Gorka web site and my passion for the music. <> Paulita and I used to live together and now we live thousands of miles away from one another. She knows me better than most folks do, a soulful friend. Ahh, we have a whole new world to share now!!! I had checked for shows on the days I was going to be there, but I hadn't even thought to check Sunday and go early. :-( My poor friend, Kim, all she heard the whole time we were down there was, "I can't BELIEVE I missed John Gorka!" That sadness aside, I wholeheartedly agree with Bryn on everything....DonCon, meeting each other, road trips, etc. :-) SMOKEY For my Best Buddy, Rex Help Find Jill (http://www.alumni.indiana.edu/iuaa/jillbehrman/) "The memory is a useful thing, store the good stuff in the easy to reach places, put the rest in the attic with the cobwebs where it belongs..." - -Ellis Paul ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 06 Dec 2000 17:30:22 EST From: SMOKEY596@aol.com Subject: Re: Meeting one another >>>Last night (Sunday) he played 328 Performance Hall downtown Nashville.<<< And *I* was in Nashville Monday-Wednesday.
