Hi everyone: I got married, moved and changed jobs, so I was off-line
for about two months and was unable to file any concert reviews. Among
the shows I saw during that time were two of interest to this list --
Lucy Kaplansky in Concord, Mass., Oct. 14, and JG with Lucy opening Nov.
4 at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va.

Both were excellent, well-attended concerts.

Since getting back on-line and on-list, I noticed that Anne Nugent's
Geocities Gorka site has been taken off the Web. Is there a new home for
the content on that site? I had filed concert reviews going back for
some five years there.

Dear Friends,

Have you ever played Gorka for a friend or family member and then, as they 
sit their listening you get so excited to be sharing your passion for this 
music and the words that are Gorka...and as the song finishes, as the last 
poignant note hits your ears, you look expectantly at the person you are 
attempting to annoint and they say,

"that was interesting"  or " that's nice" or worse yet, "you like this guy?"

<sigh>

But then, every once in a while, you risk again and someone gets it. 
I just got this in my mailbox from a long time friend. I had just wrote to 
her about the Gorka web site and my passion for the music.

I LOVE this John Gorka.  I was hesitant so I bought a used one  "Out of the 
Valley". That Carnival Knowledge is petrifyingly sad. And I like Bigtime 
Lonsome.

And *I* was in Nashville Monday-Wednesday.  I was SO upset when I got down 
there and saw in the paper that John was there the night before!  I had 
checked for shows on the days I was going to be there, but I hadn't even 
thought to check Sunday and go early. :-(  My poor friend, Kim, all she heard 
the whole time we were down there was, "I can't BELIEVE I missed John Gorka!"

That sadness aside, I wholeheartedly agree with Bryn on everything....DonCon, 
meeting each other, road trips, etc.  :-)
