I lose track of time so cant tell you the exact date but would guess within the last 2 1/2-3 yrs.... I think it was on a college campus if memory serves me right.... it was a nice large room with round tables set up...we arrived early and waited for the doors to open so we got to sit up front... a teacher from I dont remember where got John's agent to send him JGs autograph which he had put on a Louisville slugger bat to give to JG b4 the concert. John played Branching Out for him. Joni Laurence opened for him that night. Mary >>Sayyyyyy, Mary! *I* live in Bloomington, IN! And finally to Denise; I understand exactly what you're saying about the differences between John Gorka and David Wilcox, and it was a hard fought opinion that I developed in arriving at my preference slightly in favor of JG, but I ain't throwing either one of 'em away and it's ONLY their music which I keep with me at ALL times . . . You are yet another fine, deserving member of the formidable "DW List Ladies" group, and I cower in your collective presence . . . "The brave man hunts the lion, the fool hunts the lioness!" This won't be as quaint as his performances usually are at the coffeehouse, but will still prove to be a great show. I'm looking forward to it! I'll be going with my husband (provided we can find a sitter!). Yours in music, Paula Bryn [planet-x] OT: Fwd: [Site-A-Day] Guitar Seek Hello, I thought some guitar players might be interested in this. It might not be very good, but it SOUNDS interesting! Never been there, but I have been to the coffeehouse. Gotta love shows there :) There's a very good chance at least I'll come up for this show! Hopefully my husband will join me :) BTW, I've saved your note from back in October, because I've been meaning to respond. Welcome to the list. I'm from Montgomery County, PA. As I mentioned above, I have been to the coffeehouse. One of my favorite concerts was Godfrey's 20th anniversary show with John & Trout Fishing in America. You're right, there is something very magical about his shows there. In fact, the only shows I've ever seen there were John's shows. I love the fact that the quilt with his notes to "That's How Legends Are Made" hangs there all the time :))))) And the cafe mochas are to die for! BTW, I have John's setlists from his couple of performances from the Philly Folk Festival from this past August. I'm sorry I've not had the time to share a quality review. If you'd still be interested in reading it, I'd be happy to share it. I was also lucky enough to have had my picture taken with John and our mutual friend Pete Urbaitis :) I don't think photos can be sent thru the list, but I'd be happy to e-mail it individually if anyone wants it once I scan it in. Please know in advance this is a horrible picture of me...I had been camping at the festival for a week already at that point, so I'm looking kinda haggard. Don't mean to sound vain or anything, but it's really not a flattering shot for me. But it is still a prized possession. Thanks for taking the time John! Have a good night everybody :) Kris Twhobar@aol.com wrote: > Well, my news pales in comparison to JG in Kansas backed by an orchestra, but John will be appearing at the Godrey Daniels Ice House in Bethlehem, PA February 3, 2001. I read what you two (and so many others) say about those smaller, more intimate venues that John Gorka plays up north and out west, and I know that I'm going to hop on my motorcycle next spring or summer or fall and go to one or two of them, no matter how much Harley-butt is created (which is rather strange since I ride a Kawasaki . . . ) in order to do so. When I saw John at the Birchmere (in Virginia) a few weeks ago, I was most impressed since it was the first time I had ever seen him in person, but all 600 of us in attendance could not be considered components of an "intimate" audience by any means. Oh, well, it's only about four more months until spring . . . So, many thanks for re-whetting my appetite! (And 4 months of winter will not diminish it!)
