I know we all have changes happen in our lives and unsubscribe from lists, but I am always surprised at how many names pop up for cancellation info...names of folks I never even knew existed on this list. It would be nice if more of you lurkers out there spoke up once in awhile. See ya Christy. I hope you got the info you were looking for. Maybe you are gone already. I think you've just encouraged a lurker to come forward... I think I've been on this list for over a year. Although I don't know much about music, per se, (what I know about playing guitar, for example, I could write on the lip of a coke bottle using a dried out magic marker...)I just know that there is something about John's music that moves me...for all the reasons people have mentioned here and I few I can't identify. There's been a lot of talk lately about why people are leaving...thought I'd give my thoughts... Sometimes it's kind of tense here...or it feels like it's just a hard group to penetrate, especially for the painfully shy (like me!!!). I think that president business really put off some people, because we're here to talk about something other than what the rest of the world talks about. But overall, the energies and kindness of the regulars on this list make it definitely worthwhile, and I am thankful to the people who keep it going, as I hope that, one day, John will grace my fair state (yes, missouri, the state that elected the dead guy to senate, sorry to bring up politics but I had to throw that in...). This is a busy time of the year (I know...law school...finals...erg...)but I'm hanging with the list, as always, because it's such a fun, warm environment for us gorka-natics. Looking forward, Paulah just out of curiosity...is ANYONE on this list from Missouri, and intersted in a road trip to a show sometime? - --- ThePsyche@aol.com wrote: > oneillchristina@hotmail.com writes: > > << I have waited patiently, hoping that SOMEONE > would > respond with directions for those people who have > requested, but I, too, > need to disengage myself from the list, and unless > someone responds with > instructions, I'm stuck. > >> > > Christy, > > Before you go......how about one post about Gorka > and why you joined the list > in the first place. > > I know we all have changes happen in our lives and > unsubscribe from lists, > but I am always surprised at how many names pop up > for cancellation > info...names of folks I never even knew existed on > this list. > > It would be nice if more of you lurkers out there > spoke up once in awhile. > > See ya Christy. In fact, I'm doing the OPPOSITE of leaving, I'm sooooooo staying that I'm going to Bryn's house on Friday! That is, if she will give me the directions. :-) Looking forward to a cool DonConConcert that night, and seeing him tomorrow night in Louisville as a warmup. THAT is something I would love to hear. And while it might be a bit far for me to drive, this is the perfect time of year to start hinting around for a ticket to fly as a Christmas present....and being the 12th of February, it could double as a Valentine! If anyone on this list (that means you David) has details on this venue and performance, please post to the list or have you become a lurker as well? The other option for you Paula is: 3/11/01 Old Town School of Folk Music Chicago IL 773-728-6000 7pm I will give you free room and board and we can attend together. Mustards Retreat is opening for John that night. (they are doing a house concert for me in January) I hope you get to have your Gorka fix soon. Maybe the new CD due out early this winter will help as well. Sometime within the past year and 1/2 John Gorka was in Lawrence KS & Manhattan KS...I made it to Manhattan. I also saw Lucy Kaplansky and Dave Carter/Tracy Grammer in Lawrence. Missed Cheryl Wheeler, Greg Brown and several others...think John McCutcheon will be in Manhattan doing a children's concert....am not familiar with his music but am considering taking my 5 y/o grandson just because I have heard his name mentioned on this list and figure he is probably worth seeing. Where in MO do you live?? I mostly lurk on the list but pipe up once in a while. Have also seen JG in Salt Lake City & and made a great road trip with my sis to Bloomington, IN. (She is not a fan but did enjoy the concert) Hope to make it to one of Bryn's house concerts in Chicago in March. Too early to tell. Never a good idea to talk politics on a list like this so I will refrain from any comments.....arent you all glad? That would be great if we could meet there Bryn. I have always wanted to go to Chicago & never have but Bryn has been kind enough to encourage me to come out in March.....that could be a wonderful road trip. I bet I have pleasant dreams tonight.
